What do you know about the explorers of the past 1000 years? Which explorers have made an impact on world history? Which explorers should be honored and studied into the next millennium? Which explorers would you nominate to be included in our Explorer of the Millennium Hall of Fame?

Research and evaluate six possible candidates for the Hall of Fame. Narrow your list to three finalists. You must develop and defend your own criteria for making your selections. Be sure to consider explorers from all ages and areas.
Prepare a 5 x 8 inch card for each of your three finalists. One side should be a picture/drawing with a border; the other side is to include written information, including these required items:
Round 1: Team with a partner and merge your selected cards to make a total of six cards (some may be duplicates). You and your partner should identify the six cards (explorers) you both agree are the most important. Serious discussions and well throughout explanations are critical to this decision-making stage
Round 2: You and your partner need to team up with another student team. Compare your set of six cards to their set of six. As a team of four, you are now responsible for selecting four cards (explorers) you all agree are the most important.
Round 3: Your team of four needs to meet with another team of four to examine your combined group of eight cards. You must come to a consensus on the three most important explorers/cards.
Final Round: Each team of eight will write their final three choices on the board. After we have removed the duplicates, we will vote to determine the final three nominees to the Explorer of the Millennium Hall of Fame.
In one to three well-developed paragraphs, introduce us to your personal #1 nominee (who may or may not be the top class nominee). Defend your thinking process as to how you determined runners-up and finalists.
