Poetry Portfolio
To complete a full credit Poetry Portfolio, you will need to:
Guidelines for Selecting Your Poems:
1. Select poems that you like.
2. Be sure your poems are at least 12 lines long. Poems with less than 12 lines count as half a poem.
3. Include a variety of poems and poets.
4. Your poems may be handwritten or typed. If they are handwritten, they must be in ink and be legible.
5. Put only one poem on a page.
Guidelines for Taking Notes
1. Notes should be handwritten and in ink.
2. Notes for two poems should be about the poet. Include four to six sentences about the poet's life, education, style, other literary contributions, and perhaps something about this particular poem.
3. Notes for two poems should be about the poet's technique or style. You should use words like personification, simile, rhyme scheme, rhythm, etc., in your analysis. Quote lines from the poems to demonstrate the techniques you mention.
4. Notes on three poems should reflect your ideas, opinions, and/or reasons for making that selection.

Prepare one poem to read to the class. You will be evaluation will be based on the following:
Extra Credit Presentation
Bonus points will be given if you memorize and perform a poem in the classroom. The poem must be pre-approved by me and meet the Oral Language Faire performance standards.
