I like to assume that you and I both want to see the Garden of Eden replanted. Neither one of us wants to lose it forever! That's why I'm writing you -- to ask you to join with us in planting more fruit and nut trees, bushes, & vines in places where we can all share them -- like our front yards/back yards (whether we rent or own), schoolyards, churchyards, business places, libraries, county buildings, police departments, city halls, aloneside trails in the city, county, state, and federal parks -- all public access locations.
Already, people both in the United States and around the world have begun to plant these trees. Please join us! Each year, would you please, at least plant one fruit or nut plant for all of us? I am.
Here is a brief "QuickStart" instruction for replanting the Garden of Eden:
* Notice what is currently growing successfully in your neighborhood. If nothing, contact a local nursery.
* Contact the North American Fruit Explorers and/or the California Rare Fruit Growers for ideas as to what different plants can be planted where you live.
* Some fruits 'n nuts that can be grown from seeds, pups, or cuttings, for example: almonds, apples, apricots, avocados (yes, avocados!), bananas, chestnuts, coconuts, figs, grapes, hazelnuts, hickory nuts, kiwis, loquats, mandarin oranges, mulberries, paw-paws, papayas, pecans, peaches, pineapples, pineapple-guavas, plums, pomegranates, walnuts, and many, many more...
And if you want to read about other peoples' plantings, the benefits of planting, and more--get the booklet "The Fruition Project" by C. Olson, with information such as:
* How the project began with poor, hungry elders in Miami, Florida.
* One person plants a forest.
* Book reviews.
* How the state of Massachusetts got a statewide Fruition program going.
* What to plant and how to start them growing.
* How planting food reduces terrorism's effects.
Sincerely,
Robin Rose
