What a great weekend get away! We had lots of fun with Darv and Hoven...
And we appreciate so much that they drove us all the way to Fresno. We had a San Juan Drive reunion.

So much fun with Baby Marteen the eating machine, Connor aka
"Bob the Builder, Yeah!", and Andera the Japanese Opera singer and future award winning pumkin carver. My sister-in-law definitely has a FULL time job!
We definitely got our baby fixes...Enough to last for about a year.

Favorite quotes from this weekend...

"ugh nn cuh" -baby marteen
"See, he said Uncle" -Phil
"Bob the Builder, you can fix it, you built it! Yeah! Yeah! -Con
"Aregato, Lola!" -Andrea
"Sayonara, Andera!" -Lola
"Bye, see you tomorrow!" -Andrea

I'd like to dedicate "Do you know the way to San Jose?" by Dione Warwick to Philip, Darv and Hoven.

We were tourists in San Jose yesterday and toured the The Winchester Mystery House. It was pretty fun, but I think the guys got kinda light headed in there. Hoven literally shook the roof in the Firearms Museum. Poor tourists trapped inside...Thanks for being tourists with us, vida brothers.

Z.I.O.N radio is the best I've found to listen to at work...

Happy Halloween!(tomorrow)

Red Dwarf is on channel 9 weeknights @ 11, again! No one else shares my appreciation for Red Dwarf, but my brother. I think my husband thinks I'm wierd because I like it.
Kryten, Cat, Lister and Rimmer.

I told Phil I had to finish just one more row and that I would go to sleep after that. Actually, I wanted to stay up a little longer and watch Red Dwarf for a little while.

I hate that I dream about work sometimes. I've been working on a tuff problem at work all this week and I swear I was dreaming about it this morning! It's like the time I was dreaming about Calculus after studying for 3 hours for MATH 124 final... Yikes! At least I aced it. How many people can say they got a 4.0 in MATH 124? Too bad I ended up with a 2.9 by the time I took linear algebra.(Hey, my TA talked really soft and I just couldn't pay attention to her...)
NO MORE NUMBERS!!!

Other stuff:
-Darv wants to take us to the MAiZE in Fresno!

-I missed my vanpool, but got to go to Walmart on my lunch break

-Must finish baby projects and sew on buttons that I bought on Walmart.

-Laundry, Laundry, and more Laundry!!!

When it rains, it pours...

Why can't work be this busy all the time? When I'm not busy, there's nothing to do. When I'm busy, I could work all day non-stop. And you think, I have all the time in the world. Actually, I usually do. How do you think I planned a wedding in 9 months? I had lots of help from
here, there, down the street, and around the corner...

So glad those days are over...

Other things on my mind:
-You have to watch this commercial. Bad, very bad chairs!

-We're off to California in 2 days. A flight, a visit, a drive, a visit, a drive back, and a flight back. Weekend get aways are great!

-I guess I better pack my knitting needles in my luggage. So no one will think I'll try to use them as lethal weapons.

-Maybe the weekend after next, we can have a field trip to The MAiZE. Sounds like fun!

-I finally finished my second quilt! I'm proud of myself, but I really, really wish I could sew straight

-I'm proud of myself for catching my vanpool today. I'm saving the planet AND I get to sleep during my commute.

Agree to disagree...We just have to remind ourselves of that sometimes...

I watched the sunrise from work yesterday, just to get off work early to meet the cable guy. Too bad I had to be an irrate customer and tell the cable guy to bring his ass back to our house at the actual appointment time. Is it just a coincidence that the cable guy is 2 hours early for the job and the Mariners game started at the same time as when he was supposed to be at our house? hmmmm...

Anywayz...HOORAY! The people on
Survivor won't have three eyes tonight! We've had cable for less than 24 hours and I'm already hooked on Trading Spaces on TLC. Phil and I already got a good decorating idea from yesterday's show.

I've been listening to Save Ferris!, "Modified" CD for 2 days while working! Their music leaves me feeling HAPPY, MAD, and RIGHTEOUS! Maybe it's not such a good idea to listen to ska at work (bobbing my head, I must look like such a wierdo to the good 'ol boys sitting around me), …but Miss Monique is my favorite!

We saw them in concert with Lit at the Moore Theater. Miss Monique, the only girl in the band, with her red glitter lipstick and her GLAM shirt. They really rocked.

My favorites on Modified:

*track 4. Your Friend - I feel what she's singing about sometimes, but its just a way of venting...friends frustrate you sometimes, but you still love them.
*track 12(the hidden track). Modified - you just have to move on and get over shit sometimes

Fresh Blogs:
I've just discovered not martha, Daily web craft discoveries...just wonderful. I want to start doing daily craft discoveries too!

Welcome to the World Daniella Trujillo Austin. Born on October 8, 2001!
She looks like her big sister Sofia, but with darker hair…

Phil and I are enjoying more and more, our married people weekends.
Friday Night:
*3 guys and a girl's night out to the
Cinema Grill to see Joy Ride. - fel is just lucky that it was suspenseful and a bit entertaining or jojo would have never let him hear the end of it. At least we dined while we watched.

Saturday:
*A two hour walk around the neighborhood with our big baby

Dioji.
He was pretty tired when we got home.
*A trip to Home Depot. Yes, we do go there a lot…
*Some Video Rentals:A Knight's Tale, Along Came A Spider, The Luzhin Defense. - we haven't watched them all yet...
*Stripping paint - we're trying to have a normal color fireplace rather than a pink or peach fireplace. And trying to prepare for painting the trim, better than painting over 7 layers of paint...

Sunday:
*Sleeping in a little
* more stripping paint - We stripped paint for two days and the fireplace is still peach color. I guess we just have to learn how to do Faux Finish white marble. Do any of you know how? Help us please
*using the machete to wack weeds in the yard. Dioji was actually helping me pull weeds in the yard. Biting the weeds with his teeth and pulling them out tug of war style. I wish someone else was there to see it. It was too funny. Pretty helpful until he'd get all excited and start digging up the dirt too.
*Church - Thank God, for sunday evening mass because its nice to sleep in a little sometimes.

Other things on my mind:
Quilting

Faux Finish

We're finally getting cable on October 17th!

Survivor is starting this week!

My full Hobbit Name is Poppy Goldworthy of Michel Delving formerly Poppy Loamsdown. I hate the name Poppy, I guess I'd hate being a Hobbit.

Today's song: They were talking all about mahna mahna on powazek.com...I love the muppets.

Religion really shouldn't be discussed in the work place anyway...

I never claim to know eveything about everything. What makes people think that they are expert just because they can remember a piece of information that caught their attention while skimming an article or watching TV? Please don't tell me you know what the Koran says unless you've actually read it and studied the people who live by it...

Like a lot of people now, I want to educate myself thoroughly. For the very reason, that ignorance can often equal racism...and I don't even need to use the knowledge I gain, to defend my view in a debate.
I need it just for the satisfaction of being educated and knowing myself that some so-called experts are really just full of crap.

But where do I turn to for "quick" education?

I'd love to have long conversations with my friend Abu, whom I know really lives his Muslim faith or my Uncle Sonny who found Allah later in life and chose Islam, but that shouldn't be "quick" education. They educate me by existing in my world and me knowing that they are good people who basically live by the same rules I do.

So I asked Philip to record
Islam 101.
...I really trust Oprah and I think she wants the real deal, just like me.

AND, I was surprised today by my daily skim of The Seattle Times. I found two really great educational articles that EVERYONE SHOULD READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

The first was: Interpreting veils: Meanings have changed with politics, history which was accompanied by Interpreting Veils, which gives illustrations and explanations on the different types of veils.

STUFF I WOULD HIGHLIGHT WITH MY NEON ACCENT MARKER:
* "In the Koran, the Muslim holy book, there are only vague references to the need for headcoverings and humility before God, but no description of what form this should take."... "'I think that a big part of it is that the books have been interpreted in a very, very male-oriented way.'"

* "...wearing the hijab helps to keep her dealings with men "on a professional level."
(Note from me: When men don't notice your sexuality, they might take you more seriously. Maybe this is why I don't want to be high maintenance. I work with all men and always try to dress in a way that won't be noticed too much. I hardly ever wear skirts and I even felt uncomfortable bringing in my wedding pictures(cleavage)...They'd see me out of my work element.)

ANOTHER POINT I'D LIKE TO MAKE:
Look who else wears a veil...

The second article was: Understanding turbans: Don't link them to terrorism which was accompanied by Understanding turbans, which gives illustrations and explations on the different types of turbans.

STUFF I WOULD HIGHLIGHT WITH MY NEON ACCENT MARKER:
* "Not all Muslims wear turbans, and not all people who wear turbans are Muslim."
* "none of [the hijackers] was wearing any type of turban."

SOME OTHER POINTS I'D LIKE TO MAKE:
Since I heard about people attacking men wearing turbans, I knew right away they were attacking Sikhs. Sikhs have no connection to Islam at all. Those stupid asses who are attacking people don't even know. Ther are just pathetic...It just proves the point, ignorance often equals racism.

Look who else wears a "turban"...

Other stuff on my mind:
16 To 1!!! Go Mariners!
lay offs

...like my art?...some people just don't understand my sense of humor...I like qman A LOT!

home improvement
will I finish reading before the movie comes out?
crafts for babies(no i'm not pregant yet)
listening to the beat online again makes me happy
