I can't believe she's as old as she is already! Hi jaym...I found your pic. I cut out your friends cause I don't know them...Ain't she the cutest eberybuddy? She cut 2 seconds off her 100 yd freestyle at metro preliminary swim meet yesterday. Good job!

My relationship with God is personal and it isn't easy for me to share my faith with other people. That's why it was so cool to chit chat with Cindoy & Philip about all that stuff. Conversations about the way we worship/celebrate, the end of time, people being tempted by the devil...some scary stuff...and feeling comfortable with eachother and the subject.

I'm so happy Cindoy is closer now to visit. We've planned some exotic food experiments and taste tests. For when she doesn't go home, home.

My favorite invention this week is Instant Messanger! I caught my cousin Junne online last night for the first time. Oh the Joy! I've been waiting for this...

Junne and I are only 2 months apart and the only girls amoung the "older" cousins. We have a best friendship based on being 1st cousins and yearly summer visits. She grew up in New Mexico. When we were little we would see eachother almost every summer. Even when they weren't able to make it all the way up to Washinton, I'd see her in Vallejo. Her other Lola lives in Vallejo too and I was in Vallejo every summer visiting my other Lola. Good times there, spent in my Lolo's backyard and trips to the Solono County Fair, where we were forced to see Lee Greenwood Live before we could ride the rides.

And visits here in Washington with the whole clan. It felt so good to have a girl cousin of my very own. No more boy games, with Kuya Joel and the rugrats. We recruited Kuya Joel in the "Older cousins club" and wouldn't let the other kids in the room. Torturing them..."You guys are so STINGY!" "Sticks and stones...but words will never hurt me!" "Squirrel, Squirrel shake your bushy tale!"
I remember the summer we went to Expo 86. and the summer we toured Mt. Ranier and got sand in our hair and down our pants at Kalaloch.

And once we asked if she could stay the rest of the summer with me and only me. We were so sad when they considered it and then said no. Promises were made that it would happen the next summer, but it never happen, like we knew it wouldn't

Now we have to get to know eachother in our Adult lives ( all thanks to Instant Messanger!)... I just want her to know I'm not much different from when I was 12. Still silly little G.

For old times sake...Dedication to Kuya Joel and Junne:

We're J.J. Fad and we're here to ROCK...

My little friend Davin came to visit on Saturday night.(along with his mom and dad, and our friend Suk) He practiced his english words and taught us some Korean. Fun to have a little man running around the house. Philip cringed everytime Davin's head got close to the furniture's sharp corners. Davin's favorite toy is the vacuum cleaner. I showed him mine and he was very impressed.

I was a BIG chicken today and took a snow day. I should have woken up to catch my vanpool...but I don't know what happened. Now, I'm sitting at home and feeling like a fool...The roads are bare, but there are small flurries once in awhile.
Tomorrow, vanpool for sure snow or no snow.

Snow in Seattle...
On Saturday night, we couldn't figure out what the heck the dog was barking at. I watched him out the window and realized, he was barking at each snowflake that fell from the sky. Crazy...Philip should have ran for the video camera.

My parents used the snow as an excuse not to attend church. I guess the fireplace was more appealing than the cold outside.

Today, the snow is melted or just turned to ice. As I walked to my building from the parking lot, I almost bit it on the sheet of ice called the parking lot. Yikes! I was hanging on to all the cars just so I wouldn't fall.

I have high hopes for the rest of the week: GOAL...CATCH THAT DOG GONE VANPOOL.

...more later...

Phil and I are finally connected to the internet at home. My husband crawled around in the crawl space and hooked everything up for me. Lesson's learned: Kitchen tongs are not a good tool to fish wire through the walls. BUT through an ingenious thought...You can make a good wire fishing tool out of a metal coat hanger.

Our replacement for Survivor is
Temptation Island. Someone better break up this time. They should afterall, 'cause most of them have been cheating on eachother since the beginning.

We were also up late last night and caught No Doubt plays surprise concert in Carlsbad on MTV. It looked so awesome...Just think, if something like that happened to you in high school....

Extended Weekend...

We accomplished all but two of my weekend goals...Still didn't see Lord of the Rings, I decided to buy a retractable telephone cord to stretch from the office to the living room jack. Quick fix...like the tv cable @ the Vida's house. Despite that we have a nice little office/craft/storage room that once was a throw-your-shit into room. Good progess for us!

We saw
Superflat @ the Henry Art Gallery. I liked most of it. But they have this pink room, with some very erotic art. I'm still not sure that cartoons and hard core porn belong together. Hard to appreciate the art, when I cringe at the subject matter. I suppose that's the exact reaction the artist wants...My favorite was the mural when you just walk in the exhibit and the series of snapshots of Japanese life. Pretty Cool...(philip said, "I wish Darv could see this, he'd like it")

Busy at Church on Sunday. Professing my support as Jayme's Confirmation sponsor and also Leading Children's Liturgy. Do you think 7th grade boys should leave church to attend children's liturgy? I think they're a little old for it...They're middle schoolers after all. What can I say, "Go back to church you're too old...?" No...God welcomes their attendence...

A 2 hour snowboarding trip turned into an overnight stay at Lake Kachess. Fun in the snow with isangmahalers and visitors from Chicago. Philip left them on the bunny slope to practice the basics, while we got our money's worth. It was so tempting to spend all of my sick leave holiday on the slopes again, but we had to drive people back and also feed our baby dog. Good thing, because he was all tangled up, walking around and around his doghouse.

I'm back at work and just plain tired...I wonder why?...

p.s. This entry is JUST FOR DARV...

Stuff I'd like to highlight with my neon yellow ACCENT marker,
From
Little Altars Everywhere:

"I say, Well then, I'll talk and you listen: You can't run away from things, Siddalee. You've got to stay in this house where your life is. Don't you think I want to run off and hide in a bookmobile or join the circus? We all do. But we have responsibilities."

"I am her mother, though, and it is my job to teach her that you cannot escape from life. Life is not a book. You can't just set it down on the coffee table and walk away from it when it gets boring or you get tired."

Dinner at Mom's every Wednesday night...
Mom says she doesn't feel complete when she doesn't see all her children at least once a week.
Dinner night created so we'll see and touch my brother sometimes...It's a good thing.

Darv made fun of me for melting with Johnny Gill. I was 16 years old...IT WAS THE SINGING, NOT THE LOOKS...He also didn't like me dissing Alicia Keys...too bad, she's still GHETTO.

Cool stuff:

Monson Snowboards Design Contest - So many to choose from...

I like these:

I ran into a classmate the other day. I always dread running into someone from high school, because I didn't much enjoy the people. There's always that moment you catch eachother's eye and decide whether or not to acknowledge eachother. It was easy in this case, cause he opened his arms and said, "GIAN!". That was pretty cool. Despite what you think, a few really great people are Chetters...namely, my brother, my sister, me, and a few others...

I heard
My, My, My by Johnny Gill on the radio yesterday. What happened to him anyway?

I remember watching him perform My, My, My on Oprah. Wow! He made all the ladies in the audience melt. I remember watching at home and melting. I don't really think that Johnny Gill was the hottest guy at that time, it was just the way he sang that song.

Oprah had a program called Women Who Sing on last year. She featured India.Arie, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Mary Mary, and Yolanda Adams. I watched to see everyone listed accept Alicia Keys. Actually, I bought Alicia Keys CD, just because Oprah grouped her with all those amazing artists. I really think a lot of people fell for that too. Do you think she would be having all this success if Oprah hadn't invited her on that show?
I only liked 2 songs on that cd...the one that they are playing out so much right now, and the prince song(I like prince's original better)...i think she's kinda ghetto....

One of these things is not like the others
One of these things just doesn't belong
Can you guess which thing is not like the others?
...

i just noticed the only cd we don't have at home is Mary Mary. I think that will be my next CD purchase...

I spent the first part or my weekend on a Spiritual Retreat for my Jayme's Confirmation preparation. I was happy to be there for all the confirmation candidates. But kinda annoyed that we had to spend the night away from home. Not much sleep, while listening to things that go bump in the night and strangers snoring.

We finally went to see a new movie. Jarlo and Trigger had invited us to see the
National Acrobats of Taiwan at Meany Hall, but we got there and it was sold out. So we caught the 9pm showing of Le Pacte des Loups. Jayme and I really enjoyed it, but Philip and the rest said it was just OK. The sound was really amazing to me and it was filmed as if you were right there in the action.

We're still trying to get dad's new computer up. Soon, soon my computer will be home with us and we'll strip it all down and reload everything. It's a pain to fight with computers at work all day and then fight with them at home too. I can't wait till we have everything working and we'll just be able to play.

I was bad and stayed up late and mysteriously hit the off button instead of the snooze button. I hope I'm not back to my old ways.

Very soon, I'll be reunited with my computer. It will be coming home to live in our home. My dad finally recieved his new one, all black and stylish. Dad and Philip spent some father/son-in-law technical bonding time, trying to get the two pc's talking to eachother. But we discovered that we need a special cable for that. We'll rescue all of Jayme's schoolwork and Dad's bookmarks before the computer moves.

Watch out for great computer geek stuff from my husband and I. I predict that Philip's talents will blossom. He's had
payback in mind for awhile.

Excited for tonight:

The FINALLE! We'll be having a small Survivor Party(just us). The Japinoymerican Matsudaira rugrats will be joining us for a visit before they return to California.

Other stuff:
I still haven't gone to see Lord of the Rings...we just haven't been in the mood to go to the movies. We're homebodies now.

Good News! I was going through my CD's last night and discovered I already own this one. I've seen him in concert twice at Chateau Ste Michelle. The last time, he was touring this very album. We went with the whole family and got there kinda late so we were way in the back, but I rented some binoculars and was able to see Harry's good looking face. I remember he went down in the audience and some lady kissed him and gave him some tongue. He was kinda grossed out. The the guy sitting next to us threw up from drinking two bottles of wine by himself. It was a fun night, despite that.

Stuff I forgot to post:

One of my daily comic reads, Liberty Meadows, has started reruns. The cartoonist, Frank Cho, has decided to continue his work in comic books instead of comic pages. It's ok, since I never saw the earlier stuff...

Jorge Colombo's Dailies have started up again new this year. I guess he took a break after Sept.11. Makes me feel good. Daily life in New York is getting back to normal.

I arrived at work with wet hair and my shirt on backwards. I'm such a dork sometimes. That's what I get for waking up 30 minutes before I'm supposed to catch my vanpool. At least I'm keeping up my New Year's resolution.

I stayed up past my bedtime because I was watching MONDAY night RAW with my husband.

I can't believe I actually watch it. I don't really like to, but I want to be together so I sit and watch and ask questions about the story line. Now I'm learning their stupid names and who's who's enemy. Yuck!

Before RAW, I enjoyed preparing a nice meal from my Chicken cookbook, that Darv gave us. Baked Chicken with vegetables and balsamic sauce. It was a good one...While it was in the oven I watched an intriguing show: "You think you know, but you have no idea..." The Diary of Britney Spears.

Notice my AsianAvenue button! I'm sad that none of the B_town gang has updated their pages since before the holiday. Maybe they don't like AA anymore, or maybe they're really busy at work now.

I caught my vanpool this morning, which I tought was a good thing...Then I realized I was supposed to drive to this training class. Woops! I rescheduled it.

Weekend happenings:
My first overnight visit in Bremerton Friday/Saturday. Took Ate Jade out for an adult evening. The kids stayed home with Lolo and Lola. Andrea and Connor chose to sleep with Philip and I. On Saturday, helped my father-in-law organize his
store. No more milk mixed in with sardines and canned fish. Phil and I got to take home all the dented cans...

I wasn't comfortable enough to attend movie night at Jojo and Maya's in my pajamas, but I brought my knitting. Jojo tried to create surround sound on his system, but it didn't quite work. Stereo was good enough for me. We viewed Moulin Rouge again, and The Score. number one - everyone enjoyed, number two - almost put us to sleep. Who would have thought - Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton, Marlon Brando and Angela Basset would make a slow ass, boring movie.

Lazy, lazy Sunday for my husband and I. Forgot to set the alarm for 10 o'clock mass. Woke around noon, watched American Sweethearts on cable, ate breakfast/lunch that Philip cooked for us, took a long nap, got up to get ready, went to 7 o'clock mass, and a visit to my mom and dad and Jayme.

Prayers answered:
Two who once were lost, are now found. Thank God. Time, love, patience...

I swear, even though this was supposed to be a short week, the past three days have just dragged and dragged. I was hoping to be energized with the New Year, but the new energy hasn't kicked in yet.

I've just been waiting for the weekend. It will be here in 45 minutes for me actually.

Randomness:
My Auntie Julie who's left handed taught my cousin Jalen, who's right handed, how to knit. I sat there watching Jalen knit and it was all backwards. She's learned how to knit like a left hander and was fast at it. She got mad when I showed her the correct way and then she was slow. Mind boggling...example cross your arms. Notice which arm is on top. Now try crossing your arms with the other arm on top. Wierd, huh?

Comments on Survivor:

I am totally sick of this guy!!! He keeps winning all the challenges and I don't like him. He's not nice to look at and not nice to listen to and I'm SICK of him.

Happy weekend. Maybe something interesting will happen to me so I can tell you...

I have another New Year's Resolution to add to my list and I've already failed. I wanted to get up on time so I could catch the vanpool everyday. It saves me money on gas, it's good for the environment, it's good for the traffic situation, I get to relax going and coming from work. 4 pluses in one. But I've already failed. In order to wake up on time, I'm gonna have to go to sleep earlier. I'll have to give myself a bedtime!

We had Rosque and his new gf Christina over for a farwell dinner last night. Wow, new love...I say you can't win big unless you take risks, just go for it. I'll miss both of them. It will be fun to see them when they return to Seattle next time.

I'm missing my afternoon naps now that I'm back at work. I now have an afternoon cup of caffine.

Things I DID NOT check off my Holiday to do list:
*See Lord of the Rings
*paint the window trim and staircase bannister
*go snowboarding
*Take my dad and mom to Shiro's Sushie

I had a full, fun, and relaxing Holiday. Too bad my husband had to go to work most of the time I was off.
We spent New Year's Eve with my family. It's always good to be surrounded by the people you love the most at midnight. We spent the first couple hours of 2002 playing a game of
Cranium. My dad, Jayme and I were the winning team!

My New Year's Resolution is the same every year. Get Healthy and In shape. We'll see...
