Amazed that I got myself to work earlier than usual. Maybe this is my turning point. It helped a lot that we hit the sack early. Today, Jayme and I swim laps again. I'm on my way to good health...exercise, sleep, and...eating right...send me good energy vibes so I'll keep it up.

Nice celebration with the Pendon clan to remember my Lolo Bosiong. I can't believe it's been a year...
Day full of saying rosary and eating after. First 1 year anniversary of Lolo's death, then party. Then 2nd night of Novena for Kuya Joel's Lola Meding, then party. At Lola Meding's they had the super long version of the novena prayers. I guess we do the condensed version.

We scanned the picture with my mom's family after cucumber picking. Look at who were the rugrats then. Uncle Ben still has the same big hair and my mom is the one hiding her face. Good ol' Lolo and the famous black station wagon. Cool...not very many family pictures in existence...

"Haven't seen you guys for a long time." Yeah, I've been a lazy ass and my sister has been building muscles during swim season....It felt good to swim again. But I felt all sluggish and out of shape. So Tuesdays and Thursdays, I promised Willy we'd be there. He swims sets with us in the medium lane. When we don't swim he just swims and rests and swims some more. But he said that the swimming sets really get his heart beating. Good...even though Jayme and I never time our sets, we just do our standard warmup and then to 10X100's or 10X50's on no particular time, just rest a little in between.

Lynnea cooked us fajitas last night and then we all watched ice skating. Poor Michelle Kwan...she just has so much anxiety and pressure before she skates. It's easier for the young girls to go in there and steal it all, because they really have nothing to loose. I was happy for Sarah Hughes though and she is a gracious winner and not annoying like big mouth Tara Lipinski. I still can't look at Lipinski's face. I just hear that high pitched screem...I watched Slutskaya in an interview this morning and she's such a cute person. Oh well, now I'm looking forward to their exhibition routines. Those are always fun.

Boo on Jarlo, who kinda jinxed the skating results...sending negative energy out to Michelle Kwan...bad vibes...We were still a little confused about how it happened...
Here's an explanation. Scroll down through the article to "Breaking down the voting", I get it now....

Rest in Peace

Happy Birthday to my Auntie Mimi! She turns 39 years old once again...

Olympics update:

Yeah!!!! For Michelle Kwan. She's got a good start now...I get so nervous while I'm watching and then I start crying because I'm so happy for them. Philip and I were cheering on Derek Parra and then laughing at ourselves for screeming at the top of our lungs. I was actually jumping up and down. Who knew speed skating could be so exciting...

Remembrance:
Ambrocio Pendon
December 7, 1917 ~ February 20, 2001

...its been a year of healing. It's our tradition to complete our mourning by saying the rosary and having a small party to celebrate his life. He's been on my mind and in my heart all year. I miss you Lolo!

I thought I could really get into ice dancing, when I watched the young Russian couple skate and dance to a Michael Jackson/George Benson medly.
They were very nice to look at and dance to the beat. Their costumes were stylish, not gaudy and their moves were cute and crisp, not dramatic and dorky...they got 10th place.

I was enjoying the Italian's dancing to "I will survive!" and then this happens:

Woops...then a double woops, all thanks to the Canadians.

...philip and I were laughing at them after awhile. it's funny when they try to be all dramatic and emotional and then fall on their faces..."TOEPICK!"

Phil and I took my mom to they knitting shop on Sunday...
Fun and strange place the knitting shop is...Poor Philip had to sit there and wait while my mom poured through the sock knitting books looking for instructions on slip wrap stitch or something like that.
I even ran out of things to look at. I have so many ideas and projects I want to do, but I have 2 going at the moment and will never finish them if I start looking at new stuff.

Ladies at the knitting shop are a bit strange. The ones that amuse me are the ones that come in and knit at the pattern table who get free knitting lessons. And then the ones that brag and brag about how they've been knitting for 40 years and their english and it's in their blood. Every knitter thinks that what they do is amazing too.

I know this because I think this too. The first sock I made, I was so proud of that I put it on and kept making Philip look at it. I even wore that one sock to bed, even when I hadn't even started on its mate.

Anywayz, its just funny to me that knitting ladies think their creations are the best thing in the world and that they're the greatest knitters because the frequent the place. Those crazy knitters...funny and wierd.

Happy V-day!
Phil and I have 9 years together today...convenient don't ya think?

lovely links just for St. Valentine:
Megan at
not martha found this handy dandy acme heart maker. I'll post the ones I made later...

Make a cute little surprise heart envelope and tell someone you love them...

Send someone a e-mail valentine...

I just found this...today we celebrate St. Valentine who was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith in effectual, commended him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270...

and this explains how it became a celebration of love: from Chaucer's poem Parliament of Foules we read:

For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day
Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.

So I guess it is convenient that 9 years ago Philip and I choose eachother...

Wierd...

It's FAT TUESDAY, I plan to gorge myself on Jambalaya, cornbread, and banana splits before the day is over...My Jambalaya got killed at work today. Now everyone wants the recipe and I can't give it to them because I mixed two recipes together and added my own ingredients. I must make some more when I go home.

What are you giving up for Lent? I'm not sure what I'm gonna give up yet. Philip and I have given up going out to eat in previous years, but it is really hard to do. The best choice would be desserts though or going to bed late. I'd love to add something instead, like walking everyday.

So remember to party today...and fast tomorrow. Ash Wednesday mass is a Holy Day of Obligation...
You wanna go get a banana split with us tonight?

Nice family celebration for all the February birthdays. I was the prep cook and washed and cut up all the veggies and cooked rice. The party was supposed to start at 3, but as usual the Pendon clan didn't show up til 5. Simple menu: pancit, kare-kare, pork roast, chicken adobo, steamed veggies, and for dessert, birthday cake. We had to sing Happy Birthday six times...(pictures to come)

Still waiting for UPS to deliver Jayme's birthday present. The operator from
marthabymail said, "Oh, that's one of our favorites, we always open up the bottles and enjoy the smells. I was watching Martha on my day off, and she was using it and they made some wonderful things..." That lady must sure LOVE martha...

Cool Stuff:

At first I thought, "There aren't any elephants in the Philippines, that's Thailand or Malaysia...", but now I get it. I saw this young pinay woman plugging her book on the early show this morning. Now I want to read When the Elephants Dance next. You go, Tess Uriza Holthe!

Jussy brought the video over for us to watch. I guess you could totally hear Jayme and I cheering for him. I didn't think we were that loud..."Go kuya!"(from Jayme) "Go Jussy!"(from me) No wonder Philip stayed kinda quiet...

Happy 17th Birthday Jayme Jaym!
I love you!

I'm supposed to call her at exactly 11:27 AM. That's when she was born.
We were reminising last night....Mom had contractions in the morning, after dad left for work already. It was a Friday. She sent me to school on the school bus and I was telling everyone, "When I get home, my babysister will be born already!"
Dad took Jussy and I to the hospital after school and we got to hold baby Jayme. I wonder if Juss remembers...they really told him to be careful with her. I want our baby to look just like her(when we have one). She was the cutest and still is...

OOOO! can't believe she's 17...

Try it...It's easy! Time magazine says so... Create a blog just for me, so I can create a nice little section called, "My Friend's Blogs" over there on the left. For those on AA, just post a link back there. Blogger is way less quirky and more stable than AA pages...

Then email me your blog address....It will be so cool.

Veggies are working out well for us. Philip said that he didn't miss the meat in the Veggie Pita Pockets because the mushrooms made it taste like meat. We've also had spinach for the past 2 nights and it's been a success...

Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays...I didn't realize there were so many in February...

The 3rd, Big Brother Gaon
The 5th, little brother Gaon and Moe
The 6th, Reggielyn C.J.
The 7th, Ate Jade
The 8th, little sister Jayme & RJ Pendon
The 9th, Maxwell
...then it skips...
17th, Gab
20th, A. Mimi

That's kinda cool...

I watched Shakira's Making the Video last night. I like her, but I couldn't bring myself to buy her CD. I just don't like how she goes a little Celine Dion'ish with her voice when she sings in English. I like when she sings in Spanish better. Just like I like Enrique Iglesis, HERO better in spanish. I wonder if he can sing in Tagalog too.

listen...escuche en espaņol
Heroe en espaņol
Shakira en espaņol

AND...I like her all brown hair or died red hair better than blonde with dark roots...Go natural Shakira!...What do you think?(notice in the blonde picture they cut off the top of her head so you can't see the roots)

Once again, the weekend keeps me going....

Sunshine through the window woke us up on Saturday morning. We had enough energy to start our day walking Dioji around Maple Leaf. We were looking for a real bakery in our not-so-cool neighborhood. It's not-so-cool cause we didn't find a bakery only Ralphies' coffee shop. The guy in the coffee shop asked me the standard, "What kind of dog is that?" I told him, but I don't think he's heard of Akitas before. We brought scones back and ate them warmed up with butter. Later we went shopping, and I stopped to tell Philip that I was having a fun Saturday...He said, "All we did was walk the dog!?" I told him, he made it less fun by that comment...

Birthday celebrations for Gaon Brothers were the evening fun. Philip chose
Willow for Bobby's gift...I just thought Bobby would like something more manly, but I guess Val Kilmer is manly enough. Maya found a nice little night spot that had an empty room with a DJ and a bar for us to use just to ourselves. The standard yuppie meatmarketers gave us wierd looks while we were yelling our BA! BA! BA! to our dance hall beat. We'll have to invade again sometime soon. While exiting the night spot I found Mara's gum wall from her slides. I made my own mark and formed my gum into a G and added to the mural.

Sunday was productive....We helped Gab and Djan move into their very first mortgage paying home. Lotsa work, I just didn't realize it till my body felt it. After all the stuff was moved they chose our home to relax and have 1/2 a Superbowl Party. Sofia told me she was sad that her new room is so small, but I told her that it's really pretty. I don't think that made her feel better. I didn't catch all the Superbowl commercials so I'll have to veiw them all here. After the game, I told Phil I would take a little nap, but didn't wake up till Philip was almost carrying me upstairs.

Last night I got an urge for vegetables. I'm gonna start building our meals around veggies with the meat as the side...Maybe this will give us the energy we need!

Phil and I finally got off our butts and saw
The Lord of the Rings!!
I really enjoyed it. I told Philip that if they left all the things in the movie as were in the book, it would be 6 or 10 hours long. I thought they did a good job at shortening it. The only thing I didn't like about the plot changes was that they put that scene in with Liv Tyler saving Frodo and making the river rage, just to give Liv Tyler some speaking lines. In the book, she's just mentioned in a small part and she never speaks, they just admire her beauty. They actually put Frodo on the white horse and all he had to do was hold on. Then when they got to the river, Gandolf was waiting on the other side and he was the one the one that made the river rage.

But, while I was reading I pictured all the places to look like they do in the movie, except the Elf cities. I pictured them alot grander.

The rest of the weekend for us:
Happy Birthdays to the Gaon Brothers!
