Been absolutely busy lately. They've finally given me some REAL WORK. So I'm working offsite 30 minutes in the other direction than I normally commute. It's amazing that I consistently wake up at 5:30am, shower, dress, eat breakfast and am out the door by 6:15am. So this is what it's supposed to be like.

We've just returned from a 4day/3 night vacation in Las Vegas. It's wierd how you run into people that you didn't think you'd run into over there. We really enjoyed ourselves, even when we forgot to do some serious gambling, cause we fell asleep. Instead we just gambled a dollar here and there. Mandalay Bay Casino treated four of us to a nice buffet at the MGM. All because a nice nickel slot machine decided to spit $79 dollars back at Philip for giving it a dollar. What luck. We came home winners anyway. More later and maybe some pictures.

Back to work...

Started on this early streak at work. It was working quite well the past two weeks. But I guess it all caught up with me yesterday. I nodded off a couple of times at work and had to close my eyes awhile at lunch. I got home to an empty house, husband was working overtime, I assume. And took a nap. I remember Philip getting home. I remember him asking me what to cook for dinner. The next time I opened my eyes it was 8:30. Yikes. It's kinda hard to wake up after that long of a nap.

Today, I'd like to take a little nap when I get home, but no longer than 15 to 20 minutes. Lets hope...

click for wish you were here

Joy...we became part of a sea of people. I tried to think of it as being hugged by all angles, but it didn't feel much like a hug when Hoobastank started playing. I don't see how you can enjoy the music when you're being squeezed so hard it hurts. We finally headed for safer waters, and found a nice spot closer to the side with just a little more room to breath. (I'm too old for this...)

When Incubus played, they sent out this pure energy, soothing vibe. The sea of people calmed and just moved to the music. A full two hours of joy. We jumped and moved and sang and cheered. I didn't feel too old anymore, but 17 again with Jayme and Tara. Wish you were (t)here...

The clock is ticking Dad shows me this...

Why do they write something just to freak out my generation of young women. It's like they're trying to hold us back. We can't be successful and still be a mother. Whatever, I say that I can do both and with God's help, I will...I just looked at the pictures and graphsand didn't read the whole article, cause I didn't want to get all freaked out. Mom said, "I hate Time Magazine anyway. Stupid cheap flimsy pages and terrible articles. Cheap!"

Inventions...but I did enjoy the 2001 Best Inventions The coolest ones were the artificial heart and liver and the skycar. The infrared massage chair wouldn't be bad either...

Mosh Pit The concert is tomorrow and I'm kind of nervous of the mosh pit. Too me it doesn't make sense to mosh to Incubus, but you know...Sometimes moshing is the only way those young white boys can express themselves through dance. I want to be up close, but I don't want to get all pushed around. We'll see what happens.

Random Junk

History A co-worker asked why in the heck we had to do Daylight Saving Time because she really missed her hour of sleep. Another co-worker said that it started out as a joke by Ben Franklin, but the US took it seriously. We weren't sure so I looked it up.
History & Info - Daylight Saving Time Turns out that Ben Franklin was serious about the idea and wrote it up for the citizens of Paris, whose days were from 12pm to past 12 am. He wanted them to conserve candles and oil. The Europeans were the ones that took it as a joke. The Americans were the ones that took it seriously and adopted the process.

Education Via a Boeing intranet website, PBS did a special called Misunderstood Minds about learning disabilities. They have a bunch of flash exercises to test out how it feels to have a learning disability. After doing all the exercises, I think I had all of those disabilities while growing up. I had trouble with Attention, trouble with reading, trouble with writing, and trouble with math. For example, Philip always makes fun of my bad handwriting. But there's a reason: my mind is faster than my hands and in order to get my thoughts out I write messy and fast. And that messy and fastness comes out as my handwriting. For Philip, I think it's the other way around. He has small, neat, too perfect handwriting, but can never think of anything to write.

Crafty
LJC made these cute painted lightbulbs. I think they'd be good for a kids room. Refelctions of liitle bugs or polka dots on the ceiling and the walls.

I was all mentally prepared for a progressful weekend filled with cleaning, laundary, re-organization and yardwork. The yardwork progress was nipped in the bud on Friday night. Gray skies and chance of rain in Seattle. That was OK...more time for progress inside the house.
Our problem is that we always think we need to go out and get supplies to get organized. So out to Tukwilla for window treatment comparison shopping. Don't go to Pier 1 Imports for curtains. They have the same small collection of curtains as Cost Plus World Market for maybe double the price. Not what I wanted, but did walk out with Ginger Peach candles for 20% off...Next stop Linens and Things(almost exactly the same inside as Bed, Bath, & Beyond). There was some potential there, but it was necessary to see if IKEA had lower prices. DID walk out with a stainless steel spoon rest...

Total Change of Plans: Almin called while we were in line to buy the spoon rest. "You wanna go to the Mariners Game in an hour? Four extra tickets for you..." So, what the heck, FREE TICKETS. On our way to Safco Field, called everyone we had a number for to fill the extra 2 seats. No Luck...

Mariners 3, A's 8:
Philip should never have gotten up to go pee in the 7 inning, A's scored 2 more runs. Wasn't a boring night though...Baseball Spaz Lady and her Dad sitting in front of us, high fiving us every time M got on base; 2 pretty buzzed then drunk ladies drinking BUD, who left early to get it on with her man; surprise bumping into May& Max and chitchatted about their baby Maile, but left early cause Max missed his baby Maile.

Ended the night visiting Emme and Almin and chitchatting till it was time to change the clocks...

We finally bought our Window treatments at IKEA on Sunday after church, but have a lot of work to do before they go up. They also won't match our couches for awhile. Philip just needs to think in the future when we have refinished hardwood floors, painted baseboards and window trim, new foam in the couches, slip covers that compliment the window treatments and accent pillows. We're not Trading Spaces afterall, and Rome can't really be built in a day(especially not at our house).

New news for today?!!:Jayme Marya P***** F******* was confirmed as a full member of the Catholic Church last night. Archbishop Alex was intrigued by her red outfit and her long name and asked her what was the most important thing she did during her preparation for Confirmation. I thought for sure she felt like answering tearfully, "I can't think of anything." Cause she doesn't like to be the center of attention nor speak in front of large groups, but in front of the whole congregation and the whole church choir, she gave his Holiness an answer from her heart. I'm so proud of my not-so-baby sister and God-daughter. (pictures to follow)

I guess I'm an Indie film kinda person. I thought Ghost World was very entertaining. Funny and Sad at the same time.

Visit the cool website and make sure to go to the video section and watch all the clips and trailers. There's this character named Doug who's this white trash guy with a mullet who hangs out in the fast mart parking lot practicing his nun-chucks. You'll have to click on the Adult or child button for them to play.

The movie starts out with this dance routine from the 1965 Indian movie "Gunaam" to the song "Jaan Pehechaan Ho". I wish I could find a clip or picture of it...Wierd, but oddly entertaining. The dance routine and the song are awesome. Go to the soundtrack section of the cool website and listen to "Jaan Pehechaan Ho". It's worth it!

Ghost World MGM website
Salon.com interview with the film Director/Writer and the Comicbook creator
Hindi/English translator - I think Jaan Pehechaan Ho means popular, but I couldn't quite figure it out...

Yup, wierd things amuse me...enjoy!

Check this on out cause
something cool will happen. Relax and focus on the picture - see if you can tell whats wrong with it.  It takes a minute or so for the coolness to kick in.

From harrumph: Did you know that England's royal family has a webpage? Official Website of British Monarchy. They have a biography section of each Royal Family member. Most have been married and divorced a couple times.
They've also created a HM Queen Mother Memorial Page. They're not burying her till April 9th. Seems like such a long time, but I guess they have to give everyone enough time to pay their respects.

Knitting update:
I started knitting a sock using two cable needles, starting with a blind cast on at the toe. It's a project to keep at my mom's house for when I visit. I seem to really get into knitting when it gets cold in November and I'm thinking of Christmas presents. After Christmas, I'm so tired of knitting, I don't feel like picking it up. I started and stopped making myself a sweater. I've changed my mind about the style now and I'm gonna take it apart and start over.

House update:
Now that the sun has come out. Philip and I will be focusing on the yard and our garden. We have another trip to the dump to accomplish before we start. I'd also like to clean the basement and make a nice workout room. Jayme wants her Kuya Philip to teach her Kung Fu once a week.

Our TO DO list:
* a low stone wall to seperate the parking space and our short front lawn.
* flowerbed all along the front of the house
* finish weeding the front lawn before the dandelions grown and we have even more weeds
* Create a dog run on the side of the house for Dioji, so we can fix the backyard with out him digging all our work up
* Make a drive way with flowering ground shrub down the middle.

That's a good start...

On Hold: Refinishing the living and dining room floor. I just can't imagine living in a bigger mess than we already live in!

Where are we going in April?:
Incubus and Hoobastank @ the Key Arena

Viva Las Vegas! I told you we've needed a vacation.

I welcomed an unusually busy day at work today. Feels good for a change...

Last night I had a beautiful drive home from work. It's sunshining in Seattle! But it's wierd that it was even sunnier this morning and the drive TO work didn't seem so beautiful...

Dioji is shedding his winter coat and looks all scruffy. He looked a mess like some neglected old dog. So today before our walk, Philip brushed him. He looks a little better, but now there's hair all over the back yard. Good for the birds to build nests, I guess...

Pilipo & Gian Movie Review:

Two Thumbs up! It's one of those movies that leaves you feeling a little strange. I thought I'd have nightmares about the end of the world, but instead I think I dreamt of cool little robots. My favorite character was Teddy the super toy.

Two Thumbs up again...As you can see Sci-Fi scores big along with Kung-Fu at our house. K-Pax has a great story and lets you think what you want to think. One question...Why does Jeff Bridges talk like he has cotton stuffed in both his cheeks?

I'm tired of being sick...every morning my throat feels a little less sore, and everyday I cough a little less. I just wish I could just be over it now. A whole does of nyquil knocks me out so good that I can't even wake up in the morning!

The sun always comes out on Easter Sunday! We had a huge feast in Bainbridge Island and all decided we needed to get out and burn some of it off. Beach combing and ultimate frisbee(rules made up on the fly) at Faye Bainbridge park. Then a drive around the island to gawk at some million dollar homes. When we got home I emptied my coat pocket full of beach glass into our collection. Philip has some sharp eyes, but he even made me keep the brown ones. :-P

Philip found this article in Seattle Times about Fr. Paul, our parish priest. I agree that Fr. Paul is an amazing priest and that he's brought more life to Sunday mass, but I still think that St. Ben's was a good parish before he came. I plan to be there even after Fr. Paul goes off to Africa. I'll miss him though.
