I never know what to get for my mom on her birthday. It doesn't help much that it's 2 weeks after mother's day.
This year, I asked her exactly what she wanted...

Kinda funny, but so addicting. I don't think of it much as a child's toy either...I don't think I'd spend this much on something a child might use. It's more for a beginning weaver, an adult or a child.

Whenever she gets a new "toy" (just like her spinning wheel), I watch her and I want a turn on it. Maybe when she makes a couple projects, I'll get a turn. She said, maybe if she gets herself a bigger one, I may get this present back.

Anything to do with yarn and wool is so addictive and satisfying...

Experience my corporate self for a moment...
Just got out of a 2 hour meeting...

-This Major BRAINIAC, spewing out his brains verbally! His mouth is moving, sound is coming out, his brain continues to work and spews out through his mouth more. My God! He keeps going on and on. His voice changes at end of everyother sentence because he's running out of breath...And then his brain starts spewing somemore without any sign of a breath took.

..."What is your decision?...Your decision will be blah blah blah and then blah and another blah..."
He answers his own questions and comes up with their decision from words they were trying to say, but got cut off by the BRAINIAC.

My own brain is totally frazzeled, trying to make sense out of all the verbal spewing. So frazzeled, I really shake my head to see if that helps make sense out of all of it.

And then miraculously, out of all that one sided spewage, the decsions and plans are written down on paper and everyone agrees with the results!

...i must be slow...

Thank goodness I found my contact lense when I got home from work...Just G geek withou glasses.

Weekend Update 3 days off, imagine that....
I had a kinda early start to it on Friday afternoon. Got to attend a training workshop @ the Big B. entitled: Charactersitics/Skills of an Effective 21st Century Leader in a Diverse, Multicultural Environment. What a long name. Basically, it was a workshop for Asian Americans on how to become a leader in the corporate world while at the same time maintaining our own cultural heritage and identity. It was pretty interesting, but my goals didn't really line up with the goals of people attending the workshop. I agree that I need to be good at what I do and my career continues to grow. But I have more important goals which are more important to me.

The rest of the weekend...
We didn't go anywhere special. We thought about it, but then thought of the driving and traffic and decided a weekend at home was a lot better. Dinner with friends, DVD's, Trading Spaces marathon, Church followed by breakfast with the family. A volleyball tourney for Jalen and I didn't get hit in the head. A sweet tooth run for us and a night of QT curled up on the couch. A phone call with my sister-in-law. We even ventured out to Folklife festival. The main attraction, I'm sorry to say, was food.
I hit the sack a little earlier than usual and slept so good that I woke up thinking that Philip never slept...

Back at work and just reminding myself all day that it's Tuesday and there are onlly 3 days left to work this week. :-)

Where did it go?
I opened my contact lense case this morning and to my surprise there was no right lense to be found!
I looked on the floor, around the sink, in the cap...no lense.
So now I wish I had 20/20 vision. 'Till Wednesday, next week I'll be a nerd from the '90's, because that's how old my glasses are. They aren't too bad, but a little out of date.

And I can't go around not wearing them and squinting, like I did in high school. My eyes are so bad now that I'd walk into a telephone poll and say, "Excuse me." to it.

I fit right in at work now. It sucks being a geek...

Got some pictures from California via e-mail today! So funny, I thought I'd share. Look at what we miss up here in Washington! Thanx to the Fresno-Rugrats mommy. I wish we were there to help you out!

Vecepia is the Sole Survivor

We had a good 'ol Survivor Party, the three of us again. What a good season Survivor 4 turned out to be!
Rosie made all the other Survivors eat gummy worms with blindfolds on and each won a new SUV. Pretty cool...Survivor 5, Thailand during Monsoon season. I'm hooked.

Home Improvement
Painted window frames! You can tell the walls are kinda blue now. I'm so good at helping Philip start projects. We had a lot of prep work to do before we actually painted. More stripping and sanding. After hours of that, I could finally put the first coat of primer on. I ended up falling asleep on the couch, while my husband finished up priming. He finished completely with out me while I attended a bridal shower yesterday. Next step curtains. Hopefully this will get us going again.

It makes me realize what a half-ass job those people on Trading Spaces must do. We were just painting trim and it took us 2 days. There's no way they could do Trading Spaces in a OLD house like ours. There's too much repair to do before the making-it-pretty can start.

Joy...
Last night's concert was wonderful. Cindoy was happy to have a night out on the town. 3 plus(size) men creating wonderful music.
I've been letting myself go when listening to live music. Just feeling the music and moving. Who cares what I look like...

I remember dancing in front of a mirror making sure I don't look like a dork. I still feel that way sometimes. Someone must have ruined it for me a long time ago, by making such a big deal about being cool while dancing. Who cares as long as you enjoy yourself...

So that's exactly what we did. I'm so proud of us.

Linkola for Friday
For those of you who have good 'OL Netscape 4.5 at work...
Reggae Roots Station on Netscape Radio It even plays through the firewall

I worked through my regular lunch hour, so I decided to take a little break and update...

Weekend Update
Philip, Dioji, and I had our own yard cleanup party on Saturday. Philip was in charge of power tools. I was in charge of the Dandelion popper tool. Dioji was in charge of keeping watch in case the HUGE Rat that lives in the shed comes out into the yard. Can't believe I was able to fill up a whole wheelbarrow with dandelions. Our front yard has lots of holes in it from removing all the weeds. I'll just think of it as 2 jobs in one. De-Weeding and Air-Rating. To reward ourselves for all our hard work, we treated ourselves to a trip to the sushi bar and later went shopping for moms.

Mom's Day
Church with moms and dads and auntie mimi, then Brunch. The waiter said, "This buffet is all you can eat. So eat till it comes out of your ears." We followed our meal with a stroll around the Ballard Locks. Fun! We saw the baby fish getting thrown out into the sound and a sea lion waiting to catch them. Haven't been there in years.

Passing the time
I've been watching all these DVD's sent to us by
Netflix. Latest batch was a bunch a remakes.

"O" is a remake of Othello, but just the story, not the Shakespearean language. I didn't like it...There's just something about hearing the language along with experiencing the tragedy(i.e. Romeo + Juliet) When you just experience the tragedy it's not entertaining, it's just depressing.

Tortilla Soup is a re-make of Eat Drink Man Woman, but not Chinese, Chicanos. I liked both versions. Cool how the movie applies to two very different, yet not so different cultures.

The other night Philip and I entertained ourselves watchin William Shattner on VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders. We watched almost all 100 hits and sang along with almost all of them...

I BE AN EN - GIN - NEER
On this new assignment, I've been working on, it's the part of the company in charge of designing the Interior of the Airplane...You know, Overhead bins, partitions, closets, etc...

For weeks I've heard them talking about a feature in their design called a "Literature Pocket". I wasn't familiar with the part, and thought that I'll just wait till I see the engineering drawing to find out what it was.

So yesterday, I came across a picture of a Literature Pocket...Oh my goodness...A great discovery on my part.
A Literature Pocket is a MAGAZINE RACK!!!! a very technical name for a very technical part. ;-)

The Corporate World
I always think those people who bring their laptops to meetings are doing important things typing away and taking notes...
During a two hours meeting with many second level managers, I caught the project leader playing solitare on her laptop and another second level manager reading the news. I will never be fooled again! At least I was in there, trying to follow along and seem interested. My mom told me a long time ago that all my emotions show on my face. Sometimes I'm not too good about hiding them. I'll have to be more careful. It's dangerous listening to all the crap being thrown around these meetings. I could care less about their power struggles with eachother. Just let me get out of these meetings and go do my job...

Weekend in B-Town
Phil and I spent the weekend at Mom Tessie and Dad Lito's for some QT. They left us to fend for ourselves on Saturday night while they attended Miss Maria Clara 2002. That's OK...We got to see Spiderman at Silverdale Cinemas. We both thought it would be kinda stupid, but once we saw him crawling up a brick wall and swinging from building to building, we were hooked!
One comment on the nightlife in Silverdale: B-Town teenagers think they're so bad as, like they're from Compton or something.

Jojo left me a note on
AA pleading for an update. Sorry there hasn't been much time to update. I miss it, but I really enjoy being productive at work, rather than just trying to find something to do. I work better under pressure, I guess.

Nothing much up for this weekend. We're headed across the sound to B-Town land. QT with Mom Tessie and Dad Lito. I'll try to organize the Sari Sari Store and maybe come home with emergency snack supplies agian.

I'm gonna visit TJ the rastafarian dreadlock dog in Mom T & Dad L's backyard. I'm trying to convince her to come live with us, after we build our dog run, and after she gets fixed or maybe Dioji gets fixed. It will be nice cause they can keep eachother company during the day. TJ seems so lonely all the time and I always think Dioji's lonely when we're not with him. Whatchya think? Good idea or Bad idea?

Vegas Highlights:
*Philip said there was no way we could walk the whole strip. But guess what? We almost walked the whole strip. We saw almost every casino from Mandalay Bay to Treasure Island. Crazy, huh?

*I thought I would never enjoy a magic show, but we went on a tour of
Caesar's Magical Empire and got a coupon for a discount on a dinner and show. I thought it was pretty corny at first, but it ended up being very entertaining. We saw a lady levetate, a coin drop up, and a funny sultan.

*Luckily, we got to see the Fountains at Bellagio on the first night. The other nights the shows were cancelled due to high wind conditions. It was the most breathtaking man-made thing I've ever seen. Lovely

*Running into Antone while walking through Bellagio at 2 AM.

*The white tiger at the Mirage
