Oh, I'm so excited! We're not yet finished reading, but almost there.
Heather @ harrumph started talking about it already. I too was sad that Tom Bombadil was cut out of the first movie, but I guess if he was in it he would have turned it into a musical instead of an epic. But hooray, we'll get to see what the Ents look like and how they talk.
Busy Weekend update: We had ambitions to get a ton of stuff done this weekend. We made progress, but maybe not enough...
Friday was our night at home, we had turkey and cranberry sauce and had to go to the store in the middle of cooking, cause I was craving some mashed potatoes. We also shopped for ingredients for our Gag - gift potluck @ Glenn and Lynnea's Saturday night. I think Philip ended up falling asleep on the couch.
Saturday awoke early to decorate the cafeteria @ St. Ben's, but we weren't allowed to do so till after 11am. Caught a quick bite to eat at McDoh and set up for Simbang Gabi social hour. Hit Archie McPhee for our gag gift purchases. I was dropped off at home to rest for a bit while Philip did some errands. I baked a cake, cooked up some adobo, and threw together the salad. Glenn and Lynnea's Christmas party was fun. Maxwell had some cool Transformers that we couldn't figure out. Here's some results of the gag gift exchange Philip - Britney Spears Catalog Me(Gian) - Allen Iverson Celebriduck Glenn - Big 'ol grandma panties Darv - Albino Bowler Action figure Fel & Janet - matching singing hampsters "Too Sexy" & "Kungfu Fighter" Jeff & Adri - toilet seat covers and recycled porn Jojo - Bling Bling Necklace and three finger ring
Sunday was St. Ben's Simbang Gabi mass, which went very well. I told you, everything works out when you leave it to the Holy Spirit. We stayed at social hour for awhile serving dessert and lumpia. After that it was time to get busy and constructive, so we went home and took a nap. Luckily we woke up and Philip got moving. He donated the extra twin bed to St. Vincent de Paul's. Then scooped me up from home to try to get a Christmas tree. Oh boy...Slim pickings at Lowe's and Home Depot. So ended up at Blanchet HS and found a tall and skinny tree. When we brought it home, Philip was the reorganizing hero. He fixed and arranged all his computer stuff, moved the futon downstairs, moved the new glide rocker upstairs, and cleaned and vacuumed...I sat and knit and talked on the phone.( I reheated leftovers too).
I'm realizing, that busy and fast moving just doesn't work for a pregnant lady....
We attended Simbang Gabi at St. James Cathedral last night. It was very beautiful and it was great to participate in it. But we learned quickly not to mess with the very religious catholic Filipina's trying to run the whole thing. They seem to plan the living daylights out of the event and worry and try to control every single person and detail. If only I could say, "Relax and go with the flow. Let's leave it up to the Holy Spirit." But you can't reason with a Filipina doing her holy duty.
Most of the Parols were just beautiful. But at the same time tacky, tacky, tacky. The tacky prize winner was blinking like a fog light, making the inside of the cathedral look like a rave. Thank God they had enough sense to steady the light during the mass. How embarassing...
Philip and I were so proud, when approaching Archbishop Alex, he noticably admired our parol, and then in passing said, "And what parish are you from?" I think he liked it! :-) Thanks Darv and my brother Jussy. Your artwork was great and I'm a darn good color inner...

Week 19 So this thing says, "You can probably feel your egg-shaped uterus protruding a little below your belly button." and that I may be feeling some "Quickening", the baby's gentle and fluttering movement, for the first time now.
Well you know, all of a sudden my belly is protruding a lot more than a little below my belly button. AND I swear my baby's movements are more than just gentle fluttering. Sometimes I feel an appendage pushing and stretching everything in there. And the gentle fluttering I noticed very early on at maybe 11 weeks and it was more of a thumping on a drum than a flutter.
...Oh it COULD all be flab, with a baby underneath it all.
Mini weekend update: Friday night, a visit to Fel & Janet's new digs and some games of Scene It!, which Janet won all by luck of the dice.
Saturday, Shopping, Shopping and more shopping
Sunday, Mass, Dim Sum, Ferry ride, Sari Sari Store, Dinner w/ Mom Tessie and Dad Lito, Ferry ride home
18 weeks down, 22 to go... Still learning how to "take it easy". Did you know there's a special way to get up from sitting down or get up from lying down? I must pay attention to every little movement now...
I really needed that long weekend. I basically practiced at taking it easy.
Thursday: Alot of family, a late dinner because my dad was carving the turkey to perfection. The guys played XBox all day and I didn't see my husband much.
Friday: Leftovers at mom and dad's. Arrived to eat before they woke up. Furniture shopping and impromptu baby registry. Back to mom and dad's for more leftovers.
Saturday: Across the sound to re-organize at Sari Sari Store. My husband was the true worker. He removed merchandise stacked in the isles in cardboard boxes. Told "The Boss", "How are people supposed to buy this, when they can't even see it?" It is 75% improved. They just need more room...
Sunday: Church, more parol making, lunch at Copper Sky, trip to Home Depot. Home to relax.
This morning I took a shower with our brand new showerhead that felt Oh-so-nice!

P.S. We're having an ultrasound today and we'll get to see our baby's face! (and hopefully other stuff...)
