Things I'd like to highlight w/ my neon yellow ACCENT marker: "a pregnant woman came into Market Place in this southwest Washington town and said: “This is serious. I was kidnapped. Call the authorities when I leave.” "
"The 45-year-old clerk said she intended to call police but became distracted and forgot"
"After they left, the clerk unsuccessfully tried to find a phone book to call police, then became distracted and forgot about the incident." (Ever Heard of 911!)
Kottke's post Fun with stereographic photography had me occupied for awhile yesterday. It was fun to stare at the computer screen crosseyed, just to see images like those View Master things w/ the disks that I used to like so much when I was little.
The concept is similar to those 3D Dolphin posters, which I always see inverted for some reason. Remember the movie Mallrats and the Big guy in it that stares at the poster everyday all day long and never sees it.... I get all dizzy after looking at those. If it's your thing then stare your heart away on these.
In other news, the scariest thing happened to me yesterday. Just ask me about it later and I'll tell you. God was watching all who were involved. The more I play it over in my head, the more I convince myself that it couldn't be avoided. It was all in the timing...But the guilt is what gets me...All I can say is Thank God!!!
Weekend Update: We had tickets to see Chicago Friday night, but Emmeline wasn't feeling well after dinner came. We ended up returning the tickets and hanging out at Emme & Almins' instead. Watched Barbershop and Balistic...the later but me to sleep...
Philip worked overtime on Saturday morning, while I slept in. He called to say I should hit the shower since he would be leaving work soon. Good plan, since I was still in my PJ's. He picked me up and we went to Chinatown and ate lunch then stopped by a Rummage Sale for jojo's work. Wow, rummage sale professionals are ruthless! Not that I really found anything I wanted to buy...I bought just to contribute really. That night, we finally went to see LOTR: The Two Towers. Very good...But it had me constantly thinking about what was in the book and what wasn't... I remembered looking at The Two Towers: the differences between the book & the movie. Then found the link off of Kottke's link blog. They cetainly changed alot for this movie, but I still thought it was great...Phil wanted Beef Brisket noodles after the show, so we went back down to Chinatown, to Justin&Moe's favorite soup place, just before closing time. I ate some real good Chicken Congee.
On Sunday, we went to mass as usual, then brunch with the family. Then home to rest before the Superbowl. I awoke Philip from his nap @ 3:00 so he could watch the game, while I returned to slumber. I awoke 2 hours later hearing periodic yelling at the TV and the smell of popcorn. When I got downstairs, the popcorn was finished off while the smell still lingered. I kinda watched the second half. and caught the commercail w/ the mom with the huge hips. Later, leftover Superbowl party snacks @ my mom's for dinner. Home early to bed.
Philip and I entertained ourselves last night by watching the premier of American Idol. Last season, I started watching when there were only 5 people left. But I think the first couple shows are probably the most entertaining. You get to see these crazy people who think they have talent, but CAN NOT sing at all! I can't believe that a completely tone deaf person would even bother trying out.
The other thing I thought was cool is that as long as the contestants are willing to wait in line, they eventually get to audition for Randy, Paula, and Simon themselves. So you stand in line for days, then sing, then get a trip to Hollywood.(That's if you have something extra special)
Weekend update: Philip and Kuya Joel left for Whistler on Thrusday night. I stayed awake as long as I could, so I would sleep soundly alone in my empty house. I wasn't too scared, knowing that if anybody got in, I would go downstairs and let Dioji in.
On Friday night, I hosted a girls' night at home. Found the recipe for Chicken Cordon Bleu from Food 911. It turned out well. So all we did was eat and chat. Jayme showed up w/ her friend Tara and we talked like we were their age and in high school again. At the end of the night, just me and Jayme and Gab. Between nods of sleep watched Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, which turned out not to be funny at all, rather very serious and sad. Gab went home and Jayme and I fell asleep on the couches. Finally got up to clean the kitchen, then woke Jayme to sleep upstairs.
Saturday morning, I awoke @ 10am on the dot. Jayme wanted to catch her favorite cartoon: Mucha Lucha, but it was a rerun. We spent a nice lazy sister day, cooked breakfast and layed around, watched another movie. Phil and Kuya Joel finally got back around 2pm. We all headed out to Jalen's Vollyball Tourny. Jalen's team is so good. 2 games: 25 to 08, then 25 to 03. The other team never knew what hit them. My cousin, coming out of nowhere, spiking the ball hard in their faces. OOOO! She's so good.
On Sunday, we went to mass, then to Dim Sum, where we just missed the lion dance and fireworks. After our outing, went home and napped for a good 3 hours, awoke slowly and watched This Old House hour w/ Philip, then went down to clean the kitchen and cook dinner.
Seems uneventful and kinda boring, but perfect for me...3 hour naps are Oh so good. -g
Oh Wow! Week 24. Is that considered 6 months? We just keep getting closer and more and more excited...BTW, all signed up for Chilbirth education class. Starts in February! Yay!
Weekend Update Started the weekend a little early by having an impromptu dinner @ jo&maya's Mollie. Good SWEET espeghetti, fried Chicken and Garlic bread and orange slice...Maya & Bobby were practicing guitar. And I tried to remember the stuff I'd forgotten...I'll have to share all the tabs(from Harmony Central and Online Guitar Archive) I printed out w/ maya...GoodTimes just hanging out.
My husband was such a busy bee this weekend and I'm so proud.
Friday night he got crackin on the re-organization of our bedroom. Cleaning and sorting and re-arranging. I finally peeled myself away from the DVDs I was watching and cooked him some steak&rice&spinach.
On Saturday, while I ventured out w/ mom and Jussy to the Last day of the sale @ IKEA, Philip headed over to Mollie to help the santosgaon's on a brand new fence, so Astro can finally come live with them. And in the evening good Kuya Philip helped Jayme edit her video project for school. While they did that I built the furniture I got @ IKEA. Too bad, when Philip put the thing in the bathroom, you have to sit sideways to fit on the toilet. Oh well...the baby has some new furniture now...
On Sunday, mass, brunch @ Kona Kitchen and visit w/ Mari, the Karate Kid II guy's baby girl, home for more work on Jayme's Video Project, then Philip went to get a head start on digging up bushes on the side of the house. He had asked jojo to come over and help him. We both thought it would be back breaking work. Philip had the bushes and roots out of the ground in a 1/2 hour. By the time Jojo arrived, Phil was already on his way to the dump. Wow...Almin showed up in the evening on a surprise visit, avoiding going back and forth on I5. After he got his wife from work, we all headed to Olive Garden and ate some good sour salad.
Week 23 So someone said something pretty annoying yesterday. First we told her that we're having a boy, Then she looks at me and says, "Oh! Your face is changing. Your physical features are changing!" Just cause I'm having a boy(I'm supposed to get ugly or something)...I shook my head and crinkled my brow in confusion, then ignored her comment. I have noticed that my skin tone is greying a bit and that's all. But how annoying of people...I hope I don't get so annoyed and mean that when someone reaches out to touch my belly, I slap thier hand away. With family, I really don't mind, but we'll see when perfect strangers start doing it...
The Christmas decorations are coming down tonight, and I finally gave Philip a haircut last night. He was almost looking like wolfman Jack...
Just so I don't loose track myself: Week 22, 18 to go. I can't believe how big my belly is getting and how fast my baby boy is growing. The other morning, after Philip kissed me goodbye, the baby gave me a good strong kick right where my hands were resting on my belly. It was good and strong.
We planned to see LOTR: The Two Towers the day before New Years Eve, but it was all sold out at the Cinerama. If we've held out this long, I won't except anything less than seeing it at Cinerama. We'll probably go this week.
Andrea, Connor, and Martin (& they're mom & dad) have been in town. Poor Martin caught pneumonia and hasn't been able to come out and visit. But Andrea and Connor stayed over last Saturday night. Both of them saw my bare belly while I was changing into my PJ's. "Woah! That baby is getting big in there! I saw it move!" then Connor said, "Yup, I saw him move too." I don't know about that. They'll all probably be back by the time the baby's out or pretty close to being out. Me & they're Uncle will settle for phone conversations in the mean time.
Philip and I probably jinxed the Rose Bowl yesterday. Before leaving the house, we saw WSU creaming UCLA 47 to 28. We thought the Rose Bowl was already over and that WSU won good. But, we got to my dad's and the game was just starting and it was Oklahoma playing instead. I can't believe my husband, didn't know who was playing in the Rose Bowl. Stupid ESPN reruns...
