Philip and I had a very constructive baby preparation day yesterday...
Our fist appointment was with Nurse Carol for diabetic teaching. I got myself a nice new toy or rather a 4 times a day torture device. Nurse Carol said I did so well, poking myself and putting the blood in the meter w/out error the very first time I tried.(btw, its not even close to rocket science) I do hate poking myself, but I better get used to it...4 times a day till baby boy and that placenta pop out of me.
Next we saw the Doctora. Seems baby boy shrunk 1 cm from the last appointment. Not possible really, he's dropped. His head is now inside my pelvis. I'll have to get used to his movements now. They're so low, that it feels like he could just fall out sometimes. We told the Dr. that there's been no problem counting fetal movements. When I'm still sleeping, Philip has felt the whole bed shake and looked over to see my belly moving and shifting.
In the evening, we had our first Birthing Class. We were the first to arrive and got to see all the other couples wander in. Philip whispered to me pretty loud. "Everyone else looks so OLD!" Yeah, they were kinda old...Could you imagine having your first child when you're in your 40's? I don't think I'd have energy once they're teenagers. Got to practice pelvic tilts, keagals, and squats. Just proves that I better do that pre-natal yoga tape the Gab gave me. It has all of that and lots of relaxation technics. Oh so good for labor preparation. I was surprised that alot of the women there were pretty nervous about the PAIN they'll experience. To me, I'd rather not think about it. It's inevitable and I'll just get through it somehow. But I'm also planning to use technology and get that epidural. Why suffer?
30 weeks down, 10 to go... I'm being force into healthiness. If it was just me to worry about then, I'd probably cheat, but the little guy eats what I eat and right now I'm having a hard time moving glucose around inside me.
Philip and I went shopping yesterday and bought all kinds of nutritional goodness. Poor Philip, he doesn't have to eat what I eat, I'll have to make it up to him and get him some oreos or some girl scout cookies.
I tried making lentil soup for lunches. Lentils are a great source of fiber you know. Well, I skipped the bacon in the recipe and it turned out so bland. I looked up some more lentil soup recipes and I'm gonna dump all of it back in the pot and try to get it to taste nice... Experiments!
29 weeks, 11 to go. Mom & Dad Orquia came back from Hawaii last night. They packed the big suite case full of chocolate macadamia nuts and coffee. They brought the kid some aloha bibs, and a little aloha vest w/ matching mittens and booties. Too cute!
Looking forward to our birthing class next week. I'm gonna start preparing myself mentally. It also looks like I have to do some physical preparation too. Maybe it's time to buy a maternity swimsuit...
Going in for my prenatal massage tonight. I just know I'm gonna sleep good...

28 weeks! The 3rd Trimester?!? I felt baby boy's whole back yesterday. I was relaxing when I felt him stretching around inside, trying to make more room for himself, I guess. Philip has pretty much finished painting the nursery. It's so cute! Philip describes it as "Seahawk colors" definitely a boys room. We're ready to set up the crib any day now...
Quick Weekend Update On Friday night while Philip was busy painting, I cooked us up some Chicken Enchiladas. They turned out pretty good actually, too bad we didn't have any rice and beans to go with them, but it's probably healthier for us that we didn't anyway. After dinner watch half of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and knitted. Mom called around 9pm to help her roll some lumpia. It took us about an hour to roll 100 pieces. The second lumpia wrapper box, was full of faulty ones, so had to double wrap to avoid ugly lumpia. Returned home and watched the rest of the movie.
On Saturday, we headed over to Mom's around 1pm(We were supposed to be there @ 11am), to help prepare before guests arrived. I made cream cheese frosting for Jayme's cake my own messy way and also assisted Jayme in decorating her own cake. The party turned out a success and Jayme had a great 18th birthday.
On Sunday, we attended mass(I taught Children's Liturgy, informing the kids that they could talk to God anytime they needed), lunch at Kona Kitchen, home for a nap. Headed on over to Glenn&Lynnea's to wish Maxwell a happy 2nd birthday. At first, he just liked the Star Wars wrapping paper, but Lynnea helped him open up is Magna Doodle. Hours of fun! Luckily Auntie Sonny and Uncle Gil were there and we helped Glenn eat the leftovers that he didn't like. Have you heard Maxwell say, "Yeah BEBE!"? Too cute...Got home pretty early and fell asleep with all the lights on.
Via megnut: Bush Record Budget Deficit Damn Republicans!(opposite of "Damn Liberals!" that I always have to listen to at work form my numerous RdNk coworkers)
On that note: I forwarded this e-mail to the biggest RdNk coworker of all. About a White House Opinion line. You can call to give your opinion of "I oppose" or "I approve" of the war on Iraq. It was forwarded to me by a friend of mine who happens to be Muslim. So the RdNk, says, "Look at the name of the originator...Looks arab...probably a trap and end up recording mine as 'I oppose'" So, I say, "No, that's my friend. He's from Bangaldesh, But HE IS Muslim." I wore my headphones and turned up the volume all day so I wouldn't have to listen to his RdNk BS!!!
We had our 27 week checkup on Monday. All's well...the baby and I are GROWING rapidly. It's a bit shocking, but expected. I'm supposed to count kicks everyday. At least 10 kicks in a 2 hour period. Actually the doctora said we should be able to count 10 with in 15 minutes. Hasn't been a problem so far. At least each time I feel movement, I'm more concious of it now.
Phil, Dioji, and I went on our less than routine walk last night. The walk used to be pretty routine, but since Autumn and Winter, poor Dioji's been stuck in the yard. He seemed so happy to be walking between the two of us. I brought the flashlight along, so that cars would see us...It was cold, but my butt sure needed it!
