Weekend Visit

Ray was visiting from Las Vegas this weekend. JonP and I had to make his ninong aware of his bad habits of being a pottymouth. We didn't want JonP to add SH** or FU** to his vocabulary this weekend.

JonP spent the night at Lola's Friday night and Junne, Jason & K. Joel came up from the southsound to join us for dinner at
Ray's Cafe. The guys scolded Philip for not telling them that the Sablefish(Black Cod) Kasu Sake melts in your mouth. Then we hung out at Vito's till closing. It was like a tiny b-town reunion there.

On Saturday, we slept in then lunched at Uwajimaya and exchanged Ray's small hoodie for a medium at SU. We let Ray treat us for dinner at The Mojito Cafe, whose name has chnaged slightly because the owner's divided the 2 locations and decided to split the business instead of being partners. JonP accidentaly tasted some Habenero hot sauce and was seriously in pain. It was mama's fault too! We got cakes from Simply Desserts and had a board game night at home with the Vida's. Stace doesn't like Trivial Pursuit or vice versa. So we switched and played the Hummdinger cards from Cranium into the wee hours. Sorry, we don't have magic mic. We're waiting for a hand me down one, when someone decides to upgrade!

On Sunday, I taught before Mass and after mass we went visiting. Ray's Ate Mila cooked us some Kari Kari that was to die for. Then we headed to Auburn to see the Anna, Joe, Nathaniel, and Alanna. JonP and Nathaniel played well together most of the time, but they had some wierd crazy moments when they would attack eachother and Anna and I had to break them up. There were tears & separation for a little bit, then they'd go back to giggling and following eachother. I think play time was more good than bad, at least. JonP doesn't know how to be very gentle with babies and needs to be watched at all times! He learn...
Ray ended up rescheduling his flight to leave this morning. It worked out and it was a good visit.

My retired marine cube mate got me all confused over 12AM and 12PM. Isn't 12:01AM in the middle of the night?, but when is 12AM exactly at noon or midnight? If you start thinking about it it will start driving you crazy.

Here's your answer:
Which is correct: 12 Midnight A.M. or 12 Midnight P.M.?

We don't use AM and PM with 12 and time...It's either 12 midnight or 12 noon. I know for sure that 12:01 AM is in the middle of the night though...

I didn't care before and didn't really want to talk about it, but then I ended up getting caught up in the answer. I hate when people do that!

Weekend Debrief
We got news that Junne returned home on a Charter flight from Kuwait via Iraq, on Thursday. Thank God she's returned home to us safely!

On Friday night, we had the Aquino's over for dinner. It had been a long time. They enjoyed my 4 hour slow cooked pot roast, our home brewed thai iced tea, and JonP's crazy dinner habits. I enjoyed their Au 'gratin pototoes and bananas foster with chocolate sauce! Em braved our kitchen/dog kennel when she made that heavenly bananas foster. It was a good night with a great couple.

On Saturday, the whole family got together to celebrate Junne's coming home. She looks great and it was great to see her. She held JonP when he fell asleep and let him caress her arms and elbows.

On Sunday, after mass we had a good visit at Sari Sari store. I rearranged the candy bars for Dad Lito, and JonP got $10 from a customer for being so cute. I was very happy when he blew her kisses and said, "BAH!" and waved to her when she left. He put that $10 in his piggy bank when we got home. Later, Mom Tessie wouldn't sing Karaoke, because she couldn't beat my 99 score on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, but Philip tied me by humming it.

We had a rainy day off on Monday, but went to meet Baby Humza for the first time. He has almost blond tips on his hair, and he's very precious. I unzipped his sleeper so I could see his feet and his little body. JonP was so excited to see and play with Humza's Kuya Zach Attack. JonP didn't get a long enough visit, so cried and fought when we left.

SUPERNANNY is a good show...

The Seattle Times is running a special report by Ray Rivera this week, January 9 -16
The Seattle Times: James Yee Investigation: Suspicion in the Ranks
Inside the spy investigation of Capt. James Yee

The inside story of how an Army chaplain went from soft-spoken defender of Islam to accused spy, and how the case against him unraveled.

...Wow...racism, ignorance and paranoia at their finest...
...we live in some crazy times now...

Relaxing Weekend...
It was nice to stay at home most of the weekend and lounge and be quiet. We had dirty laundry and dirty dishes oozing from our house, so we spent our time at home running the dishwasher(the best invention in the world!), washing machine and dryer. Between loads we watched movies, played, read books and newspaper, and knitted(I knitted, JonP tangled himself in the yarn, and Philip helped me unravel my knitting a couple times too)

We had a nice visit with JonP's big brother Max. Us parents, lounged in the living room while Max helped JonP access all his toys and let them work out their own problems. (Seems that Max didn't like JonP's tendancy to turn into Godzilla, when Max built a nice tall tower out of blocks) We had a good dinner @ Kona Kitchen and dessert @ home with the Rimando's and the Vida's.

On Sunday morning, JonP had his first chance to play in the snow. He wouldn't put on his mittens, so his little hands turned red and cold as he picked up the snow and threw it around. After Church and lunch, we went back inside to do more laundry and lounge.

I love those kind of weekends...it's been a long time since we've had a chance to stay inside our house and enjoy it...

Warning...Up on my soapbox...
Last night right before going to bed I caught the last few minutes of the
Tavis Smiley on PBS. It was a repeat of his interview with Jill Scott. listen or read transcripts.

At the end of the show, she performed My Petition (View the Lyrics in the comments)

That song just got me. This is how one should share their talent with the world! This is how to truely bring on a revolution. Through the little piece I saw of Jill's interview, her message was so beautiful and strong. Be Real, Be yourself, be proud of where you came from, be proud of your culture and what you have, be a better person. When you have all those things, it sends a message to the world that will be listened to. You become a great representative of your people. This is how we share ourselves with others and how others will accept you and you will accept them.

So many people claim, to be part of a so-called revolution, but what are they really accomplishing?! How can you change the world, when you haven't change yourself first? ....when you don't even know your own identity?

Experiencing, Jill Scott's performance on TV last night, was similar to experiencing Lauryn Hill, live in concert. Both these women have me captivated and inspired by their music and their message.

Dirty Pants...
So, I got myself, then JonP ready earlier this morning, to be "on time" for an 8 am meeting this morning. When I finally sat down in the meeting, I looked down and saw that I had JonP crusties on my thighs. I just put my notebook on top of my lap and covered it up. Crusties...it's just a part on being mama to a 21 month old son.

Work is throwing us a shin dig down at Qwest Event Center center tonight. We have to attend, because it's once in a life time thing. I've heard stories of the Lazy B throwing similar parties in the 70's and 80's, but since my career started this is the first. I'm kinda excited....The invitation said, business attire preferred. But what if most of your co-workers dress in jeans and T-shirts most of the time? Philip was ready to wear a jacket and tie! and for once I had to tell him he'll have to dress a little down.

I haven't been able to watch The news with the Tsunami coverage. Philip says to me, "Did you see that!" and I just have to admit to him now that I've been avoiding watching the death of thousands of people.

For those of you who are curious and awstruck at the powerful images of the earth God created, this blog:

Cheese and Crackers: Tsunami Video

...is a great resource for many video images of the Tsunami.
I've only watched one and that's all I can take.

Pray for the souls of the dead and for the survivors to keep surviving.

Good Vacation
Even though I gave up 1/2 a day of my break to come to work, it was fantastic to be away from work for so long.

This morning JonP cried because he didn't want me to get up and get ready. He's become used to cuddling with mama 'till 10 am and wake up just in time for Sesame Street and breakfast.

We had a great Christmas eve with the immediate, Fellores and Orquia families. JonP got to bond with his cousins and he and Martin still have a love/hate relationship. But he doesn't like Martin to be in time out and gave him a forgiving hug and kiss right away. We had Christmas day, party hopping in the morning and ending with family at mom & dad's place. New Year's Eve was quiet at home with Mom's and Dad's and sister and auntie. New Year's day we had a send off to college party for Jalen, who's WAZZU BOUND today.

I wish everyone in my life, Bonne Annee(Happy New Year!) May 2005 bring you a new beginning and happy times.
