I'm off tomorrow and will be attending a funeral.
We've been going over and praying the novena with the family all this week. It kinda feels like a 9 day party to celebrate and grieve for the deceased. But underneath it all there's sadness.

It will be diffcult tomorrow, because they'll have to say goodbye to their mom and truely let her go.

Prayers for them all, they're all being so strong...

P.O.V. - The Education of Shelby Knox | PBS

A self-described "good Southern Baptist girl," 15-year-old Shelby Knox of Lubbock, Texas has pledged abstinence until marriage. But she becomes an unlikely advocate for comprehensive sex ed when she finds that Lubbock, where high schools teach abstinence as the only safe sex, has some of the highest rates of teen pregnancy and STDs in the state.

We watched this last night on PBS.
So...Texas scares me big time. It was a great documentary and showed how this young girl broke free of the God, family country mentality in this Texas town.

While journeying and growing in her activism role, she'd have conversations with her pastor, A Hip-Christian Baptist (I think...self proclaimed...) minister.

He said these lines to her that just made me yell back at him through the TV screen.

"You're a mighty libral Christian. Librals and Christianity...Oil and Vinegar"
"Christianity is the most Intolerant religion in the world"

...Intolerant, huh? This guy's Christianity is definitely Intolerant! He reads the bible so much that he's screwed all the meaning up.

If you're Christian, you follow Christ, right? Christ is Jesus, right?
My Christianity taught me that Jesus taught and lived tolerance. He was tolerant of all people, and welcomed all people to Him.

Wow, the RED states....Scare me! They've been brain washed by their parents, their church, their president(not mine) AND they're now trying to brain wash their own children.

It's like their Christianity and their political party are their shield and they feel so invincible behind it, that they think they can push their viewpoint and their beliefs(which are not truely based on the bible) down the rest of the worlds' throats! They also think because they have that shield that nothing can hurt them or go array...Their children won't get pregnant till they're married, their children will never be gay, they'll be safe & protected not matter what they do or what they say.

Thank God there are people like Shelby Knox that are freeing themselves from that mentality and finding their own truth!

Here's the site for Point of View - POV I'm going to try to catch more of these documentaries

I read this article in Monday's "free" paper that showed up on our doorstep

The Seattle Times: Eastside News: "Embryo adoptions" a mix of science, religion, emotion

It gave me something to think about. This couple adopted an Embryo that was frozen for 10 years and now he is a 10-month old baby.

There are an estimated 400,000 frozen embryos being stored at fertility clinics around the country...Imagine...400,000 potential people, frozen in time.

My hypothetical decision, if I had to use fertility alternatives would be to implant all the embryos produced and give all those children a chance at life. Of course, it wouldn't have to happen all at once, but planned over my child bearing years.

I just found this interesting...and thought I'd share.

Summer TV Viewing
Instead of reruns, Philip and I have been watching DVD's and also catching 2 made for summer shows

NBC.com > Hit Me Baby One More Time - Last night was a great lineup: Wang Chung, Irene Cara, Cameo, Sofie B.(Damn! I wish I was your lover), Howard Jones.

Wang Chung sang "It's getting hot in heeeere", better than Nellie. And Irene Cara was wonderful as always.

ABC.com: Dancing with the Stars - Wednesdays 9/8c has also been fun to watch. J. Peterman is a great ballroom dancer and Joey McIntyre(Please don't go girl) is so much fun to watch.

Another call with Fresno
Andrea, Connor and Marti are trying to find things to do on their Summer break. They're going to have a new baby sister in the fall. Conversations with Con-Con are always great.

Auntie G: I heard you're going to have a baby sister.
Con: The Dr. just guessed that it's a girl
Auntie G: Maybe the Dr. just didn't see a TT in the picture
Con: We have a video
Auntie G: Did you see a TT?
Con: No! I can't see anything on there! It's only in Black and White! (and fuzz) There's no Color!

Of Course conversations with Connor that I post on here are my interpretations only, since I still can't understand all the words he says, especially over the phone.

I added a blog to the Daily blogs section on the right.
Elyse Sewell
She was on America's top model, the season that Adrienne won. Elyse has a pretty interesting life, posts lots of pictures and shares good stories about living abroad(right now in South America) and being a model.

Baby news
Philip and I got to see our new baby on the ultra sound machine yesterday. "She" was already moving around and "her" heart was beating. We have another mover on our hands...
I use "_" because we are hoping for a girl, but will be happy with whatever God gives us. We are going to call the baby "she" until we really find out...

I was relieved alot when I saw her moving....

Jon Philip has a guardian angel
We celebrated Jalen & Jessica's graduation from high school on Saturday. A nice big family party at the community center.

We had a bit of a scare though. Justin was encouraged to exhibit his breakin' skills and was also encouraged to do the windmill, which he had kind of retired. But, what the heck it's just family and showy moves are fun...We were all enjoying the dancing and out of nowhere JonP runs up to his uncle and gets hit and flipped over by the windmill. Oh man! It's like everyone completely froze. Auntie Julie caught it on video tape, but didn't catch JonP from running to his uncle. And people were all around and didn't grab the kid. He really is fast though...
Everyone was thinking that he'd have to go to the hospital, but after awhile the red spot on his jawline disappeared and he was back running around with all the kids.

The next day he had not a bump or a bruise on him!
His uncle was quite relieved, as we all were...

Yup, my JonP has a guardian angel.

Congrats the Jessica & Jalen!
Jalen is now back at WASU preparing for the upcoming volleyball season.
And Jessica is off to Europe for a 10 day trip with her mom and then off to St. Martin's college in the fall.

I can't believe how fast they grew up into beautiful young ladies!

I've been really into PBS lately...Last night I watched
American Masters . Gene Kelly. That guy was so talented. Dancer, Actor, Singer, Director, Writer, Choreographer. Wow! I'll have to put some Gene Kelly movies on Netflix.

We headed up to Alderwood yesterday after work and has a great meal with some great people. JonP and Max got to go to the "Park" (the play area in the middle of the mall) JonP is a total crazy man. He was running all around and Max was yelling, "JonP! JonP!" looking for him.
JonP let his excitement get carried away though, I witnessed him body check this little baby girl and push her to the ground to get out of his way. I picked her up and apologized to her mother, then picked JonP up and tried to explain to him that that was naughty. He ended up having a little forceful time out in Philip's arms. But when we let him go again, it was as if nothing happened.. He and Max just zoomed around there like there were no other kids but them.

It was kind of like the dog park for toddlers over there.

Mom thinks JonP needs to be socialized...

I only have Jaym to tag

In other news
It's hard to go back to work after 3 3-day weekends in a row, knowing that next week I'll have to work 5 days...

In about 8 hours yesterday, the Cherry tree in my parents' backyard that was there when we moved in over 30 years ago is no longer. Kinda sad...But the core of the tree had a big round hole in it. It wasn't too healthy, nor safe.

JonP and I went to the European Continental(The german) store to get a jar of sweet and sour pickles and some marzipan for JonP's daddy.
Yummy pickles!

Jayme said that she'd help me make lasagna for Jalen and Jessica's graduation shindig this Saturday. Thank goodnes, 'cause it's hard to do alone.

We put JonP on the toilet, 6 times this weekend, but there was nothing to flush down.

We spent some time on the Ave with Darv & Stacy, Not so gourmet hotdogs, magazines at Tower, Ice Cream at the Mix, and Children's books at the used bookstore.

The weekend is in 3 more days!

Happy Birthday to two of my beautiful cousins!
Junne & Jalen!

We caught up on phone calls last night. Connor talked and talked and he's very excited not to have spelling tests anymore...and he's getting Free Ice Cream for $1 on field day.

I'm so tired when I get home these days. I've only worked 3 days this week and I've already had enough...
