document.write('<A NAME="episode12"></A><B>Tick vs. Proto-Clown, The:</B> (Episode 12) Upon returning from <A HREF="25_tick.html#wheatland">Wheatland</A>, <A HREF="23_tick.html#tick">The Tick</A> and <A HREF="1_tick.html#arthur">Arthur</A> find themselves in an almost completely evacuated <A HREF="6_tick.html#city">The City</A>. The disaster is explained to our heroes by the <A HREF="6_tick.html#cm5">Civic Minded Five</A>, <A HREF="20_tick.html#urchin">Sewer Urchin</A>, and <A HREF="8_tick.html#maus">Die Fledermaus</A>, who were just about to evacuate themselves. The threat was a big "It" of a monster later revealed to be "<A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A>", a creature of immense strength and destructive tendencies. <a href="23_tick.html">The Tick</a> unwittingly took on the rampaging monster but was batted into orbit by the bus-wielding clown.<BR><a href="23_tick.html">The Tick</a>, while floating in space, was dragged into his own <A HREF="23_tick.html#conscience">conscience</A> by an entity that claimed to be his <A HREF="23_tick.html#mind">mind</A>. <a href="23_tick.html#mind">The Tick\'s Mind</a> guided <a href="23_tick.html">The Tick</a> through his conscience on a journey of self discovery. Meanwhile, <A HREF="1_tick.html#maid">American Maid</A> arrived on the scene with <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A>\'s creator, clowning expert <A HREF="4_tick.html#bud">Bud Frontier</A>, to help <a href="2_tick.html#arthur">Arthur</a>\'s band of heroes subdue the angered beast. <a href="4_tick.html#bud">Dr. Frontier</a> tried to reason with <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A> but was almost smashed in the process. The group decided to retreat to the <A HREF="6_tick.html#cm5hq">Civic Minded Five Headquarters</A> to regroup and think of a plan. <A HREF="1_tick.html#maid">American Maid</A> stayed behind to ensure their retreat and, surprisingly, <a href="8_tick.html#maus">Die Fledermaus</a> stayed as well. It was at the <A HREF="6_tick.html#cm5hq">Civic Minded Five Headquarters</A> that <a href="4_tick.html#bud">Frontier</a> explained the origin of his creation. <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A> was the product in an experiment of clowning, and was the only one to survive the process. This will to survive must have had an effect on <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A> because he soon burst through the door of the <A HREF="6_tick.html#cm5hq">Headquarters</A> causing a second retreat into the garage.<BR><a href="23_tick.html">The Tick</a>, after visiting his conscience, was returned to our reality after he remembered why he was there in the first place. Re-entry may have had something to do with his awakening as well. Picking up speed in his descent, <A HREF="23_tick.html#tick">The Tick</A> crashed through the <A HREF="6_tick.html#cm5">Civic Minded Five</A>\'s garage and landed directly on <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A>, knocking him silly. <a href="4_tick.html#bud">Bud Frontier</a> decided to take <A HREF="19_tick.html#proto">Proto-Clown</A> back to his lab and make him less funny, probably by disconnecting the squeaky nose that caused everyone so much trouble throughout the episode.<BR>[Written by: <A HREF="actor.html#Gilroy">Henry Gilroy</A> Directed by: <A HREF="actor.html#Vitello">Art Vitello</A>]<P>');
