Thanks to the efforts of Ian Esten, Dmitry Baikov, Dave Robillard, Lars Luthman, and others, MIDI transport is now part of the JACK distribution (version 0.102.27 or later, or SVN after 2006/11/22). I no longer have the time available to be able to contribute to the project.
