Captain Nick Metz
Seattle Police Department, East Precinct
1519 – 12th Avenue
Seattle, WA 98122

Dear Captain Metz,

We are writing to thank you and your Officers for the continued hard work that you are putting in on our behalf.

We are, of course, saddened by the unfortunate shooting at 23rd & Union, but are also very worried by the lack of respect that we hear is being shown to your Officers on patrol. As a neighborhood that has often been impacted by drug-dealing and prostitution we have benefited greatly by your presence on our streets, and greatly appreciate the risks that you go to on our behalf.

Our neighborhood association was born out of grave concerns about drug dealing in our park: we we are proud to point ourselves out as one of the first successes of Community Policing.

While our problems have diminished, they have clearly not gone away. We therefore urge you to continue to patrol the streets actively on our behalf. By the nature of your work you probably get much more abuse than thanks! Please rest assured that we do truly appreciate your efforts, and will continue to do what we can (such as our Friday Night walks) to support your efforts.

Many thanks,
