A frequently asked question is with icons. Some want to make new ones, delete unwanted ones or maybe just to move them around. Also how to set up different "desktops" to avoid clobbering their main desktop.
Most manuals don't cover this information. This article was written to give a better ideas how it is done.

DIFFERENT DESKTOPS

When you start adding new programs, etc to your computer your main desktop starts getting full and you have a hard time finding the program that you want to use or there is no icon on your desktop for that program you want to run. You then have to go to the start program and go down the list of programs in the program file. This can be corrected by setting up different desktops and icons.
To set up a different desktop is simple. First go to the main desktop and find a blank spot. Click the right mouse button to get a menu listing a group of items. With the left mouse button click on the item "NEW".
On the new menu click "FOLDER."
This will give you a blank icon on the desktop. If you click on this icon you will have new small desktop that you can use. To move an item from the main desktop to this new desktop you will click and hold down on the old icon and move it to the new desktop. If the new desktop covers the icon on the old desktop move the old icon so that the icon is not under the new desktop. If you go back to the old desktop you will not find the old icon. You can move more then one icon so that your main desktop will be less cluttered.
When you have loaded a new program and then you find the only way that you can run it is by going to the program file on the start menu. You would like to correct this.
Go to the program listing on the start file and click the right button. You will then have a menu and at the bottom there will be an item called "properties". Click on this and you will have a properties menu. If it lands on the general listing click the shortcut menu. Copy the line called "Target" and write this down. Then cancel the properties menu.
Then go to the main desktop and find a blank spot and click the right button. You will see the same menu that is listed above but this time click "shortcut."
Now you will enter in the space called "command line" the exact copy of what you copied down above. Then follow the instructions and you will have a new icon on your desktop. You then can move this to a sub desktop, etc.
There are two different way to change the listing under your icons. The first way is to right click on the icon and when the menu come on click rename and then change what is under the icon. The second way you can type any thing you want under the icons for listing. To do this click once with the left mouse button, then wait a few seconds then click a second time. At this time the name under the icon will change so then you type in what you want listed.
When you delete a program the icon will not delete until you right click on the icon and then click on delete when the menu show up.
