| This web site page will show a way to file color / black and white negatives without paying a lot for a file. |
|
| Most people, that smokes, will use a number of matchbooks for their matches. They dispose the covers when they are out Do not do this, save them. |
| All matchbook covers can be used as a good file for 35mm megatives. After the matches are removed, staple in a dozen or so 1 1/2" x 2" sheets of paper. After this is done, file the negatives between the sheets and write any notes on the paper with a pencil or pen. |
| From 26 to 34 of these covers with their back faceing up, will fit in a 3" x 5" file box. Make 2 rolls, side by side
from 13 to 17 in each roll. |
| You will need to place a block of wood, foam rubber or some other item in the bottom of the box, other wise the covers will be too low in the box. Bring up the covers so that the back of each folder in neer the top of the file box. |
| You can place a index card in the front of the box with a listing of what are in each folder. Most of these card boxes have a cover so that you can keep dart out of the folders. |
| Make sure that you mark the back of the folders so that you can find the correct negative. |
