There are a few differennt weight measurement that you may come across from time to time. These are not used offen.
Troy Weight
Gold and other expensive items will be list in troy weights. A troy ounce or troy lb are not the same that a US person know. A troy lb is 12 oz. but each ounce is only .823 oz. US weight. If you would like to change a US customary weight to a troy weight you will take the troy weight and multiply it by .823 to know the correct troy weight. A troy ounce, you multiply by .0685833 to come up to the US oz. weight.
Grains
In some drug listing you will see the weight in grains. 1 grain is very light as it takes 5,760 grains to make 1 troy lb or 296.28 to a US oz.
Pennyweight
One of the little used weights is the pennyweight. The pennyweight is 19.752 to 1 US oz. or 1.555 grams It is seldom used.
