Oregon and Washington have a large number of different places that you can lose or win money. We will list the main ways.

Horse and Dog Racing

There are 2 tracks within 100 miles of Portland and both of them have a large number of "off track" betting sites. They are both owned by the same company. The two are:
Portland Meadows is on Interstate 5 in North Portland about 2 miles before going over the Columbia River into Washington. Take the Delta Park exit. From the freeway you can see the track by looking east.
Portland Meadows has live horse racing Friday-Saturday Sunday from the end of October to the end of April each year. They operate "off track" horse and dog racing all year long. They have a: web site.
Multnomah Greyhound Park is a Dog Track about 16 miles east of Portland off of Interstate 84 on NE 224th and Glisan St.
Multnomah Greyhound Park operates Dog Racing every day except Monday from the first of May to the end of Oct each year and, "off track" dog racing all year long.

Lottery

Both Oregon and Washington have state run lotteries with Oregon having the largest number of different ones.
OREGON
Below are the different ones.
Powerball. Powerball is a 12 state lottery with a minimum. of $10,000,000.00 drawing 2 times a week. You have to pick 5 numbers from 1-48 and an extra number called the Powerball. The jackpot has been up to $293,000.000.00. The cost is $1.00 each ticket and can be picked up at over 4,000 places in Oregon.
Megabucks is an Oregon lottery that draws 6 numbers from 1-45 two times a week. It has a minimum of $1,000.000.00 and can be up to $25,000,000.00. You buy you tickets at the same place that you pick up your Powerball. Cost $1.00 each.
Sport action. Oregon is the only state, by US law, that has a state run sport action lottery that you win by the total point spread of NFL football games each week. The profits from this lottery goes to the State College sports Depts.
Keno. 20 numbers from 1-80 are selected every 5 minutes and you win if you have 10 of them.
Scratch off. A large number of different scratch off are run all the time. You can win up to $10,000.00 of them.
Video Poker. Thousands of Video Poker machines all over Oregon. The state makes the most of their funds from them. You can find them all over the state, no more then 4 at any one place. WASHINGTON
Washington has LOTTO that pays from $1,000,000.00 to $25,000,000.00 that draws 6 numbers from 1-48 twice a week.
Washington has a daily 3 number lottery in exact order that can pay up to $100,000.00. You can buy them all over the state.

INDIAN CASINOS

There is one large, 1 medium, and one small Indian Casinos within 100 miles of Portland. They are:
Spirit Mountain. This casino in on Highway 18 about 40 miles west of Portland, west of McMinnville. This is the large casino that people from Portland goes to as it only takes about 50 minuets to get there. It has more people there each year then any other spot in Oregon by a count taken by the Oregon Highway Dept.
Chinook Springs is about 40 more miles past Spirit Mountain on Highway 18 and then on to Highway US 101 and down about 10 miles to Lincoln City.
To travel to these two you will take the Tigard Exit from Interstate 5 and go west to McMinnville and turn on Highway 18.
The other Casino is at Kahneeta Hot Springs up on Mt. Hood. Take Highway 26 from Gresham. Kahneeta is a large Indian Complex about 79 miles east of Portland, They have a large hotel, and other items for your use. They have a small casino.
There are 4 other Casinos in Oregon but they are over 200 miles from Portland.

State Laws

Oregon Racing Commission, Oregon Health Department, and Oregon Lottery Commission have set up laws at all the above places that will be enforce except the Indian Casinos. They do not come under state laws. The rules are as follows:
No one can enter a place where gambling is taking place after 6:00 PM if they are under 12 years old. If they are all ready inside the child may stay as long as their parents are inside, but if their parents or child goes out, even for 1 minute, the child must be removed and not returned. .
No one under 18 may enter a gambling place at any time if not with their parents or guardian.
No one under 18 may place a bet, buy a lottery ticket, cash a lottery ticket, cash a winning mutual ticket or go up to a window that sells a racing or lottery ticket at any time.
No one can bring in any outside drinks or food into any place that sells food or drinks at any time because of health rules.
No enployee of a race track may buy or cash any mutual ticket for himself or spouse at any time under the penalty of a heavy fine.
At all off site places there will be a 5% service charge added to all bets. The state does not enforce this on off sites for Multnomah Grayhound Raceing.
